Not really. I'd say Neo-Nazis killing people is worse than tearing something down that should have never been up in the first place. 

If our local governments won't take them down, we will.

Yeah I agree but if we dont do things like this we can have the moral highground and we are in a better position to criticize the barbarities the other side commits.

Honestly surprised that this hasn't been done sooner. We have a huge black community as well as nearly entirely Democrat population.

Reminds me when people would tear down statues of opression from other countries, to keep something around that represents a part of history when our country was divided on the pretense of treating other human beings equally, racist statues, flags, street names, symbols should not be around

The issue is the law here in Durham. Durham city law states that the city government cannot remove or dismantle historical statues or monuments, therefore leaving it up to us citizens.
