Starbucks 4,204
Do Gaga need a theatrics and storyline for a concert about her dead aunt? Your everyday cups of kindness

Not everything needs to be spectacular or with a certain story, sometimes, you just need to think outside of the box and make your own story.. 4 minutes ago, Talent said: In my opinion, this tour is pretty theatrical. Not with props, but with her persona. This review explains it better: Thank you I feel much better. I am grateful now

Something different from her previous discography. I'm not surprised she's not screaming "my name is lady gaga" on this tour. Sugar, spice, and everything nice. Nene Areola 1,152
To be very honest, shes not moving onto newer ventures to please the gays, even she herself isn't invested in this tour at all.this tours a greatest hits tour and being reminded of old songs makes you nauseated the 100th time . It's underwhelming because nothing is progressing

chiuga 1,970
Gaga doesn't enjoy doing the highly choreographed, immaculate, eye catching visuals, multi-screens, feast on your eyes and senses type of concerts. Leave these to pop stars who rely on production. You don't see her pull a Madonna Katy Perry ish soulless super bowl performance as if she wants to she could do that easily by hiring a big production house. However it's obvious that she's not bringing anything new that we've never seen before. She probably wants to engage more people in this era by not being too flamboyant or over the top which makes me look forward to her next era. she's a true artist who isn't trying to create success over and over again and instead she follows her heart to explore different dimensions. venusxillusion 184
Kenzo I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as you wanted to...you looked great!! I understand that you're disappointed but Joanne isn't really a theatrical, high concept album, it's much more low key and earthly so it doesn't lend itself to fancy concepts/theatrics apart from a few songs imo....and I think at heart she prefers being more free on stage and not confined to choreography or stage cues...I'm sure she'll have another tour in the future that would be a massive spectacle and very detailed, but in the meantime try to enjoy the ride that is Joanne! Honestly, we're so spoiled by The Queen that we often don't appreciate the genius that's in front of us!!
chromasine 5,439
I mean I love spectacle but what I love more is being able to Witness™ the artist in concert sing her heart out (uhm... live, not lipsyched or anything like that, and near flawless). Personally, if I'd solely want "theatrical" performances, I'd go watch Cirque du Soleil or summadatshit Also, "Will Gaga ever reach that caliber" uhmn... I mean... Caliber of what? Props? hmn

just another gay 836
I hear you, I do feel the same way that it is a little weak in terms of concept. But it is still one hella of a brilliant show. To me, it is her most "POP" tour, it is the like what I imagine a pop star concert is when I was young. Actually her previous shows are also not very strong concept-wise if you look into it, the "story-line" are mostly just being there without tied strongly with the songs, but they helped frame up the show. There is at least one moment in the JWT that I think there is a theatrical flow in between songs. (spoiler) Spoiler Paparazzi to Angel Down On the opposite, I think JWT is straight forward showcasing Lady Gaga's starpower and proved good she is as a performer without all the gimmick. It may not have a big single moment to stand out but it is actually indeed very cohesive and well done. Also, it is unfair to compare Gaga's to Madonna's tour since Madonna has decades of songs for her to put together a killer setlist while our Gaga only has 5 albums. I think they did a good job on JWT setlist considering it is a very hard job to mix the new sound of Joanne with her older pop. (Spoiler) Spoiler (Except they didn't include my favs Sinner's Prayer and Just Another Day) In my opinion, JWT is her best tour in general, I love it a lot. TimisaMonster 31,073
I agree...it feels like artRAVE where she plays 5 songs...does a quick change and performs 5 more songs...quick change and etc... The show doesn't have a "theme" even tho it's about Joanne...the interludes could help with that but as cool as they look, they seem more like Coachella rejects and NOT for this tour at all...
