****....**** fine I'll just wait for a stream/torrent....but are the reviews deservedly bad or just hating because of the cast?

Critics don't hate Jennifer. Just the internet.

Some reviews are super good and some reviews are super bad.

This basically explains the F CinemaScore

"There's no denying that mother! is the thought-provoking product of a singularly ambitious artistic vision, though it may be too unwieldy for mainstream tastes."

"Upon release, the film received generally positive, albeit somewhat polarized, reviews from critics, many of whom praised the performances and Aronofsky's direction, though the confusing narrative was met with a mixed reception."

Give the GP a movie with a complex or challenging narrative and they'll most likely hate it unless it's by Nolan. :reductive:

"My people… need to let our bitchiness out. Otherwise, it turns to bile and poisons us"

I wrote about something a few weeks ago about how you have genius movies (not calling this one genius yet still haven't watched can't judge) that'll be deemed as boring or meh by the public, but you have shitty movies and the GP end up making it out to be the next Citizen Kane.

I don't wanna sound pretentious, but yeah, the movie looks challenging.

I'm so excited. :excited2:

I'm curious what everyone on here thought about it :ladyhaha:

Did you watched it yet? Did you like it?

Watched it last night, it's super messed up & psychologically twisted.  a bit too long & drawn out for my liking though

I'm hyped.

I watched this last night.

as an entire film, it just didn't quite work for me. The pacing was really off, especially. But the last 25 minutes were thrilling and horrifying and shocking.

Jennifers acting was excellent. My favorite performance of hers.

I sure did, I've been anticipating this one A LOT.

It's not necessarily what I expected, and I believe the marketing strategy is a bit misleading for that matter. It's difficult to talk about it because whatever you want to express is already too much, but I'll just say it did raise my eyebrows more than once... It is an exhausting, sometimes exasperating experience, I'm not usually a huge fan of films that are too metaphoric so that one was a bit much for me. But somehow, I'm still fascinated with it, and even though what I just said sounds kinda negative, I can't wait to see it again.

I'm always having a hard time watching movies I've anticipated a lot the first time around because I've fantasized so much what it would be that I always end up yearning for more, or for something different. But now that I know what it is, I believe I'll enjoy it more in the future. And if anyone on here wants to talk theories, my PMs are open :trollga:

Woah.

Some people say it's a banal nonsense and a desperate attempt to be a controversial auteur, but I'm definitely watching. Aronofsky deserves our attention.

Jennifer better forget about those Oscar nominations tho. Poor girl.

It kinda reads that way when you see it unprepared, but once you try to think about all the symbols and possible meanings, everything becomes very obvious.

I had heard a lot about the meaning of the film beforehand, so halfway through the movie I pretty much understood what was the point Aronofsky was trying to make (it can even seem too obvious and cliché once you get it), but I get why some people would just take it as a succession of WTF moments that ultimately don't make any sense.

But if you see it with a really open mind, and if you know your fundamentals when it comes to religion and the Bible, you should be fine.

Yeah, I heard a lot too. Film Twitter after TIFF was really interesting.

I hope Darren isn't throwing metaphors in your face without any restraint. But we'll see. It's going to be an experience, that's for sure.

Right, I think all movie lovers should go see it at least for the experience. No matter what one may think about it, it's definitely different from anything we've seen. I believe this is going to be seen as an important film in the years to come.

But nobody is watching it. And the ones doing it are HATING it. It's already a box-office disaster. :selena:
