Favorite Songs Live v. Studio (JWT Sp ahead)

I've been thinking about this myself a bit and wanted to see if the rest of you guys had similar thoughts feelings. I obviously have my favorite studio songs but those don't always correlate to the songs I enjoy hearing live the most (whether because of the crowd, etc), where some songs are great either way imho. FWIW I'm not referring to one-offs like Perfect Illusion acoustic, I mean more generally. So here it is:

1. Fav song where studio>live

2. Fav songs where live>studio

3. Fav songs where studio=live

For me:

Fav song where studio>live

Dance in the Dark is still my favorite released song and I saw it x3 at Monster Ball and while I was HYPED that she opened with it. It certainly didn't add to the song. I feel like nothing can beat listening to this song with headphones on. I definitely would love to see it again live but it didn't have the same magic as the recording.

Telephone.

Born This Way always feels a bit rushed and scattered live imo.

Fav songs where live>studio
IMO most of the singles feel like this. Love Game especially has always felt so lit live but I honestly skip it when listening to her. Also Just Dance, Poker Face, Applause—I grow way more appreciation for live. (Love Game and Applause aren't favs by any means so I cheated her, oops).

Obviously some ballads, Edge of Glory and You + I do that for me. Angel Down also from this tour.

Fav songs where studio=live

Scheiße, Bad Romance, Paparazzi. Come to Mama.

Bloody Mary almost would've fallen under the first bucket a la DITD, but that scream snatched me.

BDR, I love hearing the studio version and I really love it, but I hate it live. TMB made the live grew kinda on me, but the studio version is still much better.

Starstruck

DITD, for the same motives as you tbh

Telephone

So Happy I Could Die,  there's a magic in the studio one that lacks on the live one

BTW for, again, the same reasons as you :selena:

G.U.Y

Fav song where live>studio

Just Dance, LoveGame, Brown Eyes, Speechless, Judas, Hair (the emotion she puts on the song live just makes me cry even more than on the studio), The Queen, You and I, TEOG, Aura, Venus, ARTPOP, Swine, Dope, John Wayne and Milion Reasons

Fav song where live= studio

Just naming a few: Paparazzi, Poker Face, Teeth, Scheiße, Sexxx Dreams, DWUW and DH

Also same at Bloody Mary :poot:

this is the state of grace, this is the worthwhile fight

The Cure has a lot more to it live. The drums on the pre-chorus add so much.

Just Dance live is also so much better. She's always such a rockstar when performing it on tour.

Paparazzi is far better live, both because the studio version is mixed a little oddly for my taste, and the Paparazzi segment of any tour is always a highlight. :tony:

On the other hand, Perfect Illusion is obviously far better in the album mix. I think she just struggles to sing it to be honest. The same for Judas. :excuseu:

Meanwhile, Bad Romance is always perfect live and on the album, as are You and I and Government Hooker. Government Hooker snatches me so hard live and on the album. It's so so good.

Clearly we agree on a lot but wow this is so spot on. It's like a different song live and it's hard to describe but yeah it just doesn't have it in the same way.
