While Scream 3 was tonally different from the previous films (because of Columbine), there were too many **** ups in Scream 4 to warrant it being any higher (for me). elijahfan 25,768
The best sequels that come to my mind are Terminator 2 and The Empire Strikes Back. Also, I know that's an opinion that isn't widely shared, but Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is one of my favorite in the series.

The Paranormal Activity sequels were scarier, had more going on, and built on the series mythology. I like the vibe, action, and special effects of Spider-Man 3 the most. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 doesn't need explaining, it's just better. The Grudge 2 was scarier and didn't drag as much The Grudge. Final Destination was really good, but as the series progressed, the effects, deaths, mythology, and twists got better. There you go "My people… need to let our bitchiness out. Otherwise, it turns to bile and poisons us"

BUT The Paranormal Activity sequels were scarier, had more going on, and built on the series mythology. I will forever be on the side of traditional horror where less is more. I am also one of those who prefers suspense over gore. I do very much so enjoy Paranormal 2 & 3, as well as The Marked Ones, but Part 4 and Ghost Dimension **** all over everything great that they had done. Ghost Dimension was basically made by someone who had for all intents and purposes never seen the prior films, or just didn't care about any sort of logic or continuity. I like the vibe, action, and special effects of Spider-Man 3 the most. I own Spider-Man 3, so I do enjoy it. But there was one too many villains, and the silly dye job they did on Tobey McGuire's hair was The Amazing Spider-Man 2 doesn't need explaining, it's just better. Jamie Foxx completely destroyed this film for me. His version of Shocker was so cartooney and over the top, it was unbearable to watch. The Grudge 2 was scarier and didn't drag as much The Grudge. I will literally fight you on the street over this one (jk). The Grudge was an absolute masterpiece of suspense. With The grudge 2, the plot holes and continuity errors were so distracting that they took you out of the film, and don't even get me started on what they did to Sarah Michelle Gellar's character. I 98% of the time never care about Rotten Tomato ratings, but there is a reason this film has a 10%. And this film is the reason that the sequel was forced to go Direct To Video. I literally listen to the first films score at least once a week. A Masterpiece Final Destination was really good, but as the series progressed, the effects, deaths, mythology, and twists got better. See, for me, the mythology was most prominent in the first one. Again, the original relied more on suspense and fear of what would happen, versus over the top death scenes and gore. I love the first three, in the order of release, but Part 4 was crap on a stick, and honestly, I'd have to re-watch the final one. I don't remember much, aside from the ending revealing it was in fact a prequel (which sorta creates a plot hole in and of itself).
