Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested 32 foreign sex offenders on Long Island during a 10-day undertaking termed “Operation SOAR.”

"Operation SOAR," the acronym of which stands for Sex Offender Alien Removal, and which ended on Aug 3., was part of an effort to eradicate foreign nationals who were sex offenders living in the Nassau or Suffolk County areas of Long Island, according to an ICE press release. Enforcement and Removal Operations officers arrested 32 people, of whom 12 were registered sexual offenders.

"ICE’s continuing commitment to making our communities safer is underscored by operations like this one targeting sexual offenders. These actions focus our resources on the most egregious criminals and promote public safety in the communities in which we live and work,” Thomas R. Decker, field office director for New York, said in a press release. “ERO officers are out there every day enforcing immigration law with targeted enforcement actions. ICE will not waiver in its promise to arrest and remove criminal aliens from our neighborhoods.”  

 

ICE officers arrested foreign nationals from countries that included the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Trinidad, El Salvador and Peru.  (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement )

The individuals who were arrested had past convictions or charges against them ranging from attempted rape, endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree rape to sexual abuse.

nope. thats the job of police. ICE focuses on illegal immigrants  

 

there have been some huge human trafficking busts recently though. police are definitely putting forth an effort on this kind of stuff but maybe not enough tbh

even deeper in the actual article: none of them actually molested children, but we thought sex offender would make people more angry so we used that word instead of rapists and child neglecters. Also many of them weren't even convicted but we won't tell you how many because it's probably most of them if not all of them

I'm having a hard time finding what your issue is with the article.

Not all sex offenders are registered. 12 out of the 32 arrested were registered sex offenders. It doesn't mean the other 20 weren't also arrested for crimes related to sexual offense.

Why are you focusing on molesting children as the only crime that can be used to consider someone a sex offender? Rapists are considered sex offenders as well. 

All news outlets put their own twist on stories to promote their agenda. I don't think this was necessarily a case of Fox doing so, but it's crazy to me how religiously people can follow CNN and immediately discredit ANYTHING from Fox. They are both biased.

Sex offender means child molester in current american english. They know that, even you know that.

And saying 32 sex offenders were arrested when only 12 were is factually incorrect. Hmm, I guess you could call it alternative facts?

This is a propaganda piece trying to get americans to love ICE, nothing more.

No, I live here and it's anyone who comits  a sex crime. I don't know where you got this idea from but it's absolutely false.

I know the legal definition. I'm not sure you understood what I was saying.
 

Go talk to the average trump supporter about sex offenders and see what they think you are talking about. They voted for rapist in chief so they clearly wouldn't care if you were talking about rapists.

Literally every customer at my work in Southern California DOESN'T SPEAK ENGLISH, and when they do they can barely speak English. Someone complained to the manager because I couldn't speak Spanish, like it's that bad here.

Well that's... telling  Like, why bring up something like this in a thread about foreign sex offenders unless you just want to espouse anti-immigrant, anti-foreign sentiment and borderline racism-xenophobia  There's no reason to say this kind of thing.
