DeanWinchester 41,390
There were a few years there where it appeared Lady Gaga’s career was headed for a premature Caesars Palace residency. But the singer-songwriter, whose greatest talent appears to be reinvention, is back on top with the release of her most recent album, 2016’s “Joanne,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and her spectacular Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year. Source: http://m.sfgate.com/music/article/Lady-Gaga-back-on-top-11743747.php What an achievement for Gaga to turn things around. She's far from her massive peak but she has definitely swung her career back on an upward trajectory by shaking off most of her detractors that say she is all shock. C2C, the acclaimed tribute performances and Joanne really showcased her talent and changed the narrative of her career By the time she finishes her tour (assuming she does not extend it), she will have reached her 10th year in the industry marked by acting and soundtrack album for the ASIB. C1trus 4,341
Yes. Joanne era is the official start (in her pop career, of course) where she doesn't need to keep making shock/controversial stuffs just to stay relevant ι'м ρυℓℓιηg үσυя sтяιηgs
Letmelivemylife 8,715
What amazes me is she could've become jaded from the fame but she's still the same girl from NYC that we fell in love with 9 years ago. Yeah her aesthetic has changed but deep down she's still the same person. Even at tonight's show, I still felt the same love I felt during the Monsterball. I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you
bumblebee 2,528
Joanne might not sonically be what all of her fans instantly liked, but it was a much needed move following all the backstage drama of ARTPOP. Coupled with Cheek to Cheek, Joanne gave her the chance to broaden her fanbase properly for the first time ever since her rise to stardom. The Fame and The Fame Monster popularity was based on: I. the 1987-1992 generation that went clubbing around 2008-2010 (her early hits were very dancefloor friendly, especially Just Dance ) II. the 1993-1998 schoolkids who found a new talent to stan and appreciated her through the heavenly power that was the Monster Ball Tour III. the urban audience who thought that she was sort of hip and fresh When she released Born This Way, she made a record as a present for that II. category, for most of her fans and stans. She lost the urban audience because she got ridiculously overexposed and weird for them, and The Edge of Glory and You and I didn't suit the clubs very well. And after that, in early 2012 she imposes a media blackout upon herself, and doesn't have much publicity except for her Fame perfume and weight issues in mid 2012. Basically, when she gets back to the USA in 2013, she breaks her hip after just 18 concerts and is again off the public eye for another 6 months. ARTPOP, even though filled with tracks destined for dancefloor, was constantly outshined by other tracks in the clubs, failed to connect with the younger audience (who already had another generation of pop stars to stan) and distanced Gaga even further away from hip audience, who found her whole art and pop commentary to be overly pretentious. So by mid 2014 she was left with her II. category (who were already 22-27 years and had to pay rent and had less time to stan) and III. category (who were 16-21 years old and were in the most socially active time of partying, etc. and were exposed to other hot artists of their generation). She was not popular among the millenials who were the driving force of streaming in 2014-2016. But instead of trying to win the hearts of younger audience, she chose to go in the opposite direction and follow the more mature one. So with North America Joanne Tour following the promotional cycle of the album (unlike Born This Way - album released in 2011 and tour in 2013) she is going to have a kind of new mix of her II. and III. fans and somewhat Adult Top 40 audience, which may play well if she goes the soft-core pop soul R'n'B direction with LG6. Slay.
Bradley 59,157
These articles really have no respect for residency show performers though. It's already considered a deterioration of one's career in the industry.
