She was snubbed in several categories in 96 (though there were some like AOTY which Alanis deserved). I remember they had her seated in the 1st row because many expected her to win at least 2 or 3 of her 6 noms that night. Didn't win a single one (the noms were for Daydream and its singles). Her sophomore album Emotions is my favourite by her. It features a lot of interesting melodies and it has Emotions, Make it Happen and If It's Over which Yours Truly (Ariana) is reminiscent of. Daydream is Mariah at her best and most polished tho. It features upbeat-midtempo pop songs like Fantasy and Always Be My Baby while also featuring strong melodic ballads like Forever (One of my fave songs ever) and the record breaking One Sweet Day. Her Live album is also really great. Both are great to start with. Ya my mam said 1996 was such a hard year for the Grammy's in the media because of the Mariah snub backlash Daydream is Mariah at her best (not my fave tho). It deserved so much than just sales Although I'm sure she doesn't care, she knows she wrote an amazing body of work.
