While other artists all have this bizarre era where they try hard to rely on shock factor, Miley's weird era felt authentic. She didn't show her nipples to shock. She did it because she felt like it. And she's obviously more intelligent than those people that made a whole controversy about it.

Her picking her vagina all the time, licking candy penises, showing her tongue all the time, and trying simulating sex on stage in most try-hard way is considered authentic to you? To me it's the total opposite. D: I don't know if there was more try-hard popstar out there that tried to convince the public that she/he is mature enough now.

IQ was invented as a means of discriminating against disabled people and minorities. It's ****. You have good instincts. Seriously, consider what purpose IQ tests serve (to put a ranking to mental capability) and ask why? Why do we need rankings on brain function? Racially, "science" has historically been used to justify the mistreatment of African Americans in the US by claiming they were less intelligent than white people and thus not equal. The idea of IQ scores and intelligence is really hokey and serves no legitimately useful purpose in society.

Gaga has a pretty strong intelligence,Lana and Rihanna are kinda smart too. Marina is very smart as well. But I feel like Lorde,Bjork and Madonna are the smartest ones

I've seen a lot of Kesha's interviews and her reality show and even though she is definitely not stupid,she is not THAT smart either imo

I also think Ariana seems very smart from her interviews. She's very well spoken and makes a lot of logical statements about interesting topics like feminism, LGBT equality, and the meaning behind her music.

you forgot about legendary intellectual artists like Kate Bush, Bjork, Annie Lennox, Patti Smith, Chrissy Hynde... this seems like a set up to portray Gaga as the most intelligent by comparing her to just a few girls. Unfair and discriminating.

I totally get what you mean. In fact I may have elaborated my opinion in the wrong way. Tbh it's a bit contradictory. In fact it was really tryhard, but there was a meaning behind it : she wanted to show the world she was NOT a Disney kid, and wanted to enjoy herself by pushing the boundaries as much as possible.

BUT, what makes her mature is the fact that it was not an act to get views or peak on the charts. She truly felt like she wanted to be a weirdo, for herself, not for self-promo.

I thought it was the contrary back then, before she released Malibu. This song was kinda the confirmation that she was not acting the whole time.

Think about it. She could have gone crazy for the rest of her life, but she just transitionned into this new Miley because she felt like it. And, most importantly, she's not erasing her past to fit the ''old Miley'' image people want her to have now. She doesn't say she regrets Bangerz or Dead Petz (in general) for that. What would make her a tryharder would be to cancell the ideas she transmitted with her previous eras just because people don't associate them with ''old Miley''. 

What feels authentic is how she went from Dooo it to Malibu without going all like ''LOOK !!! I'M QUIET MILEY AGAIN !!!''. She almost didn't acknowledge the change, because to her, it's not a ''new Miley''. It's always been the same girl, doing different things, having different feelings about life.

I really suck at explaining, but if you dig a little into her recent interviews, she seems like the smartest of them all to me.
