Love this retrospective but I wouldn't say it allll contributed positively. Her David Bowie performance (because of Duncan's comments) was probably net negative reputation for her (I personally liked it, and obviously it came from an incredibly passionate place, nuts) and her AHS: Roanoke performance was blink and you missed it and a lot of my friends didn't even know it was her. The Metallica collab really only made a splash because of the tech difficulties.

But winning a GG for Hotel, both Oscar performances, C2C, both Super Bowl performances, and Coachella definitely  reminded the public that she's hella talented and still a force.

True but they are still events that are worth mentioning :hor:

Some things aren't true nor objective. Mess.

I agree it may be subjective but eh, I never claimed to be completely objective :giggle:

In terms of public perception, at least in the U.S., she really did bounce back for many of the reasons you mentioned. It's amazing to see and she couldn't do it without her talent and drive. Great post.

I can't believe posts about Katy Perry are still more relevant than my thread about Gaga's slaying career :emma:

You're so right! So many people are only focusing on negativity.. It even seems that sometimes some people (even worse) do everything to bring negativity &/or to find something to criticize

Im so happy for Gaga, and how she bettered her whole carreer and had an amazing comeback.I just dont get the thing with ARTPOP,why was it so hated?

Let me explain the era:

In 2012 during the BTWB,she was already working on it,and made songs like MANiCURE,Tinnitus,Partynauseos and others. But somewhere during the end of 2012,after the Fame(perfume)era, she broke her hip very badly, and she didnt even know. She continued the BTWB,but during one show in Montreal(February 11,2013),she got a lot of pain during the show, and literally screamed on stage, causing her to cancel the remaining shows of the tour.Gaga held an emotional speech and sang Marry The Night with fans on stage, and left, and this was the sad ending of the whole BTW era.

Afterwards,Gaga had the surgery, and admitted later on,that the injury was so heavy, that she almost needed a full-hip replacement. After the surgery, she was rarely seen being carried in a wheelchair, with a sad look on her face.

Then,Gaga wasnt in the news anymore, and there was complete media silence about her.During these months, she was depressed, and was still in a lot of pain,so much, that she uses 15 joints per day,to fade the pain away.

In June, she slowly started to pick herself up again, and she started working with Tony Bennet for C2C,and was seen singing the National Anthem at a Pride.

In July,she started the era,by doing a 2-day photoshoot(1-2 July)with Inez and Vinoodh.They also made a video,expressing all her feelings.

Around a week later, she was seen in NYC,apparently smoking a joint in a car,and walking in NYC with only her bra, skirt, sunglasses and high shoes.

And later that day,she was seen at a Inez and Vinoodh party.

Another few days later, she filmed the Applause video(July 17,2013)

The rest of July was also a silent month for her,but MTV announced that she would open the MTV VMA's next month.

Later that month she had to release Applause earlier, due to it being leaked. But the video she premiered on Times Square.

On The MTV VMA's she succesfully opened the show.

The next few weeks of the era went succesfull, with the interviews and the performances. And the iTunes festival. But then DWUW got to be a single, the video was cancelled, the album sold less, and she got a lot of hate. But,she went on with the Totally out-sold ArtRave, but in June she took a break to promote and create C2C with Tony Bennet, and that motivated her to have fun in singing ARTPOP,and succesfully continue the tour and end the era.

I thought this was one of the best era's,and she really Proved how strong as a person she is this era.
