DIC could've been more successful than MR if she did it on SB

The Cure went no.1 on iTunes so easily because the fans bought it  if DIC was released as a single, fans wouldn't buy it so it wouldn't have as much success on iTunes

plus, radio would need to heavily support this if it was to get anywhere in the top ten, like they did with million reasons but it's obvious that they wouldn't play it as much as MR due to its message unless the GP loved it

Ariana sang about getting ****ed so hard she could barely walk and it went #1 on radio

I didn't even know that's what the song was about until people here told me  that song is a lot less obvious than DIC

No

We wouldn't have a Grammy candidate without MR reaching #4

The GP will love MR more than DIC

DIC is far from being Grammy-worthy

I made this exact same comment a few months ago lol. But at that time there was still hope DIC would become a single. I wish it did. Ha only chance of getting that #1 in the Joanne Era. :madge:

TC was the first song in 2017 to dethrone Shape of You from #1 on WW iTunes, do you really think that's just because of the fans? :saladga:

Look at MR after SB. It went to #1 on iTunes, why? Fans already bought the song, right? Whichever Joanne song she did on SB would've topped iTunes, it's all about the longevity and WW success.

Excuse me no, no other Joanne songs except MR had the potential to do great with a SB performance.

REALITY

I disagree, Million Reasons is such more appealing to a wider audience, and even though ideally I would have loved to see A-YO as the second single, I don't think DIC would have done better.

It's also different from what Gaga's known for, sonically speaking. It's a ballad (yes, TEOG can be a ballad too, but I'm strictly talking about the studio version).

DIC is a much more polarizing song, and if anything, if you wanted a more upbeat pop song, then I'd say go with John Wayne (even though it's not my favorite, from what I've heard, a lot of people, even the GP like it).

This discussion is pure speculative, nobody really knows anything about how impactful would have been other tracks with the Superbowl.

any highlighted song in the SB would be successful. plus, MR is a big hit in my country (it's not Westeros) and is still being played like 3-5 times on the radio per day..

MR is vital in giving people an introduction into another side of Gaga.

1. Yes  until it got attention from the GP

2. I actually didn't think about that :spin: true

I disagree, DIC is a bop but it most likely would've flopped harder than Perfect Illusion. It's just not a radio friendly song.

This could be true, however MR is more impactful and we'll understand this in the long term. As much as we may dislike country music, it's a genre that is huge in America. Also, MR is a song that changed GP's perspective about Gaga, showcasing her vocal/songwriting abilities. This couldn't happen with a sexual pop/dance song like DiC. MR is actually one of the main reasons why Gaga's SB was so popular and critically acclaimed.

Spoiler

That being said, I would change MR over Angel Down anytime
