I haven't turned on a radio to listen to anything besides NPR or jazz in almost two years. I stick to steaming, vinyl, and mp3s. Lol I guess I just don't care anymore. Enigma 7,182 Posted August 5, 2017 Share Posted August 5, 2017 I agree, Gangnam Style was catchy and fun (it aged very badly tho) But this... ? It's not iconic. It's basic. The beat is boring. It just shows that the GP is now basic, unlike when Gaga, Kesha, Katy and such were at the top. It's not about talent, really. It's about the feel those songs have. For instance, California Gurls was silly and catchy. Same for Gangnam Style, Tik Tok and such (I'm not saying those songs reached #1 views on Youtube, I just know they used to be big deals). Popular songs now are all... serious, boring, basic. It just seems like the society (well, the GP) is now boring and conformist, and it's sad.
