Cellphone ban at concert?

I've shared this story a few times but I will never forget Gaga walking on the Artrave catwalk during Poker face and literally everyone turning their backs to her. I was like huh? Then I saw they wanted to take selfies. Gaga looked me straight in the eye and I danced and sang with her. It was an incredible moment, way better than any selfie.

She ofcourse understands people want to capture a moment, but it is still an odd feeling to see everyone busy with their phones or in the case above turn their back to her.

Also I will never forget this moment when after a few C2C tourstops I went to she finally told off the noisy fans who were more interested in giving her gifts, screaming stuff at her and filming than actually listening. (1.26 min)

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

I don't think there should be a ban, that's excessive to me, and while it can be annoying, I think as long as you're not disrupting anyone else's experience, go ahead and film it.

Also remember though, a lot of people aren't able to attend her concerts (like many here on GGD) so it gives them a chance to see everything from the stage, to the lights, to the costumes, the setlist, and all.

The fact that you can HEAR the sound effect of someone stopping their recording on their iPhone is astonishing to me

Her absolute power to control the room

edit: I'm also losing it at the fact that 30 seconds later the video pans to someone recording on their iPhone :air:

It's is a little dumb when people are worried about snap chatting the concert rather than enjoying it.  I don't think they should be banned though.  A lot of people need them to order an Uber or call for their ride.

Se has addressed the issue. Too many times.

The next thing she could do would be stop the entire show. Would that be reasonable? Would you support her if she did such a thing?

To be fair, cellphones are already too much a part of everything in our lives, including these events. It's useless and almost ridicule to try to ban them. It is the age we live in, it's too late to control cellphones. It's more than a simple tool, it has become an extension of ourselves.

I once went to a small concert (about 2000 people) where the band actually went into a fight with a professional photographer  (who had every right to be there) and stopped the show because of a fan using a cell phone. At the end of the day, it was a selfish attitude from a band who claimed they were all about the music and asked everyone to enjoy the moment, but clearly wouldn't interact with anyone, showed no will in being there, nor happiness with a few fans who waited for them hours after the show, couldn't really feel their own music and in latter shows would allow cameras and everything just because it would give them the money.

So, whatever. I hope Gaga realises no one has bad intentions while using a cellphone. The important thing is that she allows herself to immerse into the show and let the audience enjoy it, one way or another.

BUT, blocking the view of someone who's watching the show, THAT is offensive and must not be allowed. Use cellphones as you may, but be sure you aren't bothering other viewers.

I like to accidentally knock them out of people's hands and step on them :gaycat:

not really dont freak out at me

It's banned in most concerts in japan to use your cellphone, which is why i really wanna see some of my fave japanese acts in japan. No annoying phones.

LOL, actually there is a video somewhere from a girl filming on her phone of that exact moment and Gaga is looking directly at the girl telling her to put her phone down and all she does is scream Gaga is looking at me etc etc. :sharon:

Live and let live. You just focus on you enjoying the concert the way you want if you don't like having your phone out then don't, but if other people enjoy the concert recording the whole thing then let them it's their choice

Let's be clear guys, I'm just stating an opinion or question. Don't come at me for making a ridicule decision.
