Gaga plays multiple instruments on her shows,sings live which isn't true for Beyonce' because her performances use pre recorded vocals most of the time Also,in terms of technology,Gaga's shows are miles ahead than Beyonces' . The Halftime show and JWT are the recent examples. Beyonce' only beats Gaga in the dancing department. Gaga gives her everything, her concepts are so out of the world and creative, she sings, plays piano, speaks to her fans. Nobody compares to her. Beyoncé just does the same thing and she's good at it but there's nothing special. Would never pay to see her again, I left her last show 30 minutes early. Gaga's dancing is only as good as her choreo, which is cute and auxillary so far at this tour, where as for Beyonce her choreo is much more technically demanding as well as visually rewarding (To me). I think Beyonce is just also a much more impressive singer than Gaga, and our perception of "emoting" through singing can be kind of dramatic. Like shes not a totally flawless robot. She can also sing and dance at the same time (she claimed her dad made her run in heels + sing as a child to build stamina) in a way that I actually don't think any other pop star in the business can even get close to. Gaga is a more theatrical, and yes "emotive" singer, but Beyonce has much more "range", (im not saying like, low-high range) so I think they are equally versatile. Gaga can manipulate her tone more, but Beyonce has a wider set of tools at her disposal. She can also sing jazz, do a pretty good opera, etc as well. People overexaggerate Beyonce's lack of "emotion" though. Her voice is naturally emotive and dramatic, she's not a robot, she makes on the spot creative and very intellectual and musical decisions in how she uses her voice that show she has a very strong understanding of music and the voice. To me it's more like she almost never loses composure because her voice is in such good condition... Sometimes imperfection is seen as "emotion", but Beyonce often employs rasp or growl or other technical things to add to this without sacrificing intonation, control, etc. She emotes through dynamics, improved vocal runs and dramatic vocals. Shes also just not physically as emotive in her face and what not, so it doesn't come across as such. Like, listen to her sing "Listen". She sings like that all of the time and it is an expressly emotional delivery, especially live versus studio. I think she does unfortunately have a somewhat "generic" tone to her mid-low voice. Gaga's tone is more unique... though Beyonce's upper register is almost operatic and girlishly bright when she employs it and thats very underutilized on her last 2 albums. Im kinda talking in circles... I would say that Beyonce is a better performer because she doesn’t miss a beat and always puts on the best show every night. My issue with bey is I never feel a connection with her while she performs. She does great but makes no attempt to interact with the audience and seems like a perfect robot.
