Do you think Gaga can still sing in her old voice?

As I was watching Gaga sing hits from earlier in her career, it made me wonder whether it's possible for her to revert to her TF/TFM/BTW voice or if she's permanently stuck in her ARTPOP vibrato. I'm not hating on either voice, I think both versions sound wonderful, but it sounded especially odd to me in songs like Paparazzi and LoveGame. Her original sweet/smooth pop voice suits those songs so much better than the opera-esque, acrobatic ARTPOP/Joanne voice and I'm wondering if it's possible for a singer to be unable to return to an original tone? Has she evolved so drastically that she literally can't sing the way she did on TF/TFM/BTW?

The Cure says hello and borrows from the pre-Fame/Fame vocals so I don't see why not? But when it comes to live performances, Gaga almost always sings in a lower register than the album cuts.

I actually like her vocals while performing Love Game at JWT & Coachella. It brings a fresh vibe to the song. As far as Paparazzi I miss the raw/raspy vocals from before but she better at belting notes now so its a win-win.

She grew up... voices change through the years and her training her deeper and more mature voice for CTC probably didn’t slow down the process. I do sometimes miss her more pop-like voice but her voice is much more genuine and raw sounding now a days and it fits her new musical style (TIHTY, Joanne, Find Yourself) better.

REALITY

I think if she really wants to she can. The Cure has that sort of "sweet/smooth pop" sound that you're describing, and I think her vocals in that particular song are really reminiscent of her "old voice".

Honestly though I love hearing her sing in her lower register. I love the heavy vibrato she gives.

Im sure that she can do it , and she did that sometimes...like the bridge of PI , love game at coachella , the paparazzi acoustic version at the private wedding

Probably but Gaga's music, as it progressed, started bringing her natural voice to the forefront instead of staying with the cute pop music voice.

And The Fame was recorded 10 years ago now. Voices are bound to change.

Hey voice has matured so her lower register is just what naturally comes out now. She can still sing in her "sweet" voice whenever she wants though.

In regards to vibrato, you can control it; including speed and intensity. But it takes practice to ensure you're doing it healthily. Healthy vibrato comes as a result of technique and release; singing straight tone introduces more tension, actually. But it's easy to damage your voice in an attempt to add vibrato you don't have, or alter your natural vibrato.

But I doubt she cares if her vibrato sounds too operatic, lmao. :giggle:
