I feel like Applause's bridge doesn't really count since it's more like Gaga howling + prechorus

That's the problem. I hate lazy bridges in music. One thing I like about Gaga is that in general, her bridges are very good. In fact many bridges are my fav parts of the song.

The best bridge of Gaga belongs to one of her most underrated songs imo.

This probably means 3 different things....

1. Her microphone failed

2. She was late and had to rush to get to the other stage for Angel Down

3. It's suppose to be like that to display the theatrics on the bridge

 

BUT we'll have to see on the next few shows since the instrumental continued my guess is she kept performing until reaching the main stage.

So as someone who actually saw what happened with this. Here’s the breakdown...

She finished the chorus and as the dancer dragged her away, she ducked down and changed into Angel Down costume before the catwalk was even raised. 

There was also another dancer with her on the catwalk who was harnessing her in...I actually have video of that. 

My feeling is that it was designed that way to give her time to get situated and prepared accordingly. 

To confirm, there was no additional backing vocals, it was purely instrumental.
