Why does she hold her mic?

She used to have one of these microphones that get attached to your face for previous tours and most performances before which allowed her to leave it all on the dancefloor and slay us with choreography. I'm just wondering why she switched to a microphone that you need to hold in your hand :oprah: Does it matter to you and what do you prefer?

Ain't no heavy breathing using a mic like that. Better quality tbh. :selena:

The hand held mic is better because we hear her clearer and the things she wants us to hear is what we hear, like she can move the mic away if she wants to exhale/ dance.

but for dancing it's harder

Much better quality it gives her voice a much fuller sound. During the Fame era she only used a handheld mic.

Because we moaned at her for like 3 years to stop using the head-mic n

This sums it up really

Hand mic sounds way better and she can also manage it in the way she prefers.

Headmic is better for the dancing but i mean, Gaga is not that super dancer so i prefer her to focus on vocals.

Agreed.

This performance has some killer aesthetics but her breathing was out of control though

Hand held has better sound quality. The face mic is convenient but does not have a full sound like a hand held, plus those kind have so many issues it's insane. Hand held makes it so she doesn't need heavy playback cause we can hear her better now. Overall it's always better to sing out of a hand held.

Idk why everyone says that hand-held mics are "better quality", that's not strictly true. It really is just the practicality of it that makes the headset mic sounds like it's worse quality. She's doing choreography so she has no control over how close it moves to her mouth (see around 1:42 an onwards in above Judas performance to see her try and control this), and of course she can't help but have her breath picked up which makes the vocal sound a whole lot worse.

It's not a quality issue. If you've ever been to see a high quality production of a musical (i.e. Broadway, West End) you will have heard how crystal clear headset mics can be.

Have you heard how full and good her voice sounds in the videos? It sounds so powerful with the hand mic. She used a hand mic on the cheek to cheek tour and he voice was more enjoyable to listen to that at the artrave because there wasn't as much breath and other static.

I think she tryna focus on the vocals more than the choreo. But even with a mic in her hand, her dancing slaaaays.:firega:

I prefer handheld mics. :nails:
