What's the fuss about Formation World Tour?

I just watched it and expected some sort of giant spectacle because of the acclaim it got from critics and fans. To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement :laughga:  It was nothing special. B is a good dancer and a good singer but the lighting etc the production was pretty meh imo. Why did it get rave reviews? Can someone who attended tell your experience? Honestly no shade to B, but JWT shits all over FWT imo. Gaga can sing and dance her heart out AND the stage, lighting costumes etc were amazing. Am I missing something? Why was it acclaimed?

Why do you gotta discredit other artists to make Gaga look good though? Are you insecure about something?

It was amazing. The combination of the fans, the weather, and the spectacle was out of this world. The point of the show that I took away was the identity of culture that Beyonce celebrated. It's hard to argue that a white rural person would understand what the Formation Tour was about tbh. And that's part of the reason why people can't see past her image. I really enjoyed the stage as it had a life of it's own. Even the speakers were powered by THX which had an amazing intro before the concert began. The intimate and explicit moments were amazing and had me shook. Transitions were always amazing like going from Crazy in Love to Bootylicious. The water pool with Freedom was also a beautiful performance. Overall, Beyonce is very well rehearsed. She's not perfect, but her choreography and presence throughout the show is masterful and impressive to witness.

Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it can't be acclaimed. There are all sorts of concerts of all genres that are well received, but that doesn't mean they all have to have amazing lighting, costumes, dancing, etc.

I don't think he's discrediting anyone. He just stated that FWT is overrated. By comparison, JWT is better in his opinion.

in the religion of the insecure: I must be myself respect my youth :toofunny:

I'm not discrediting her, some monsters were saying how good the FWT was compared to JWT calling JWT boring etc, so I wanted to see what the fuss was about and it wasn't that great.  I'm honestly asking why it got rave reviews

Why would I be insecure tho? lol Like I'm not Gaga, I'm not the one who performed :laughga:

Speaking on general terms because Lemonade largely celebrated Black women.

If Gaga would've put on the exact same show that Bey did last year you would all be living for it. it was a phenomenal show, period.

No, sorry. It was incredible to witness live.

Beyonce has a way of maximizing minimalism. The stage at first glance is barren, almost boring. But once the giant cube starts rotating, lit up with insane interludes, mixed with the lighting and smoke...iconic. She has such a presence, and commands the audience with silent pauses, insane choreo, and ferocity. She's empowering, and immensely talented all at once. Perhaps emotion-less at times, but that's what gives her this god-like aura.

I mean, the opening with Formation where she pauses, then struts out to the main catwalk in darkness only to erupt into the choreo was INSANE to witness live. And Freedom barefoot in the pool at the end was gorgeous and raw.

I will say that the tour may not have resonated with a lot of people because of the themes and general state of our world at the time in which she was commenting on. It was meant to empower herself, and her black fans. Personally, I enjoyed On the Run more, but Formation was unforgettable.

If we want to discuss lame tours we can drag Anti into this. :giggle:

exactly. Water stage, giant rotating screen, intense dancing.

If you didn't even go and see it live and you didn't see the JWT live I dont think you can really compare the two especially considering all we've seen from the JWT are snippets and the full was from grainy far away cameras
