While Developed Nations hardly ever grow more than 2% to 2.5% these days... Canada has surged with 4.6% growth in past 12 months

This is by far the strongest growth Rate in the developed world surpassing even some developing Countries

Even better the growth appears to be sustainable as it has come from manufacturing and exports which has more than made up for finally shrinking construction and real-estate! Most job gains have been full-time jobs!

Should Oil Prices stabalize energy will be another tail-wind adding to growth

@Luc i dont know if u remember our convo many months ago about keynesian economics over austerity

seems to at least partially responsible and the deficit is only projected between 1% and 1.5% of GDP at this time

But because of strong growth finances are coming better than expected, so far this year we are actually in a very tiny $100 Million Surplus so far

@Woolfsmck I take back what I said 2 years ago that he was gonna ruin our economy with his higher taxes and regulations 👀

But in my defence he didnt change the Conservative Governments taxes that much or increase regulation much exept for in Oil Industry... hes mostly just spending more on infrastructure and innovation programs 🙃

Almost as good as Sweden's 1.7% QoQ growth.

raising taxes a little wouldn't be too bad in Canada, right? I see no reason to sustain a deficit with 4%+ growth.

I dunno... taxes were already raised slightly by this government

top income bracket raised by 4 percentage points from 29% to 33%...

They did lower middle bracket slightly tho from 22% to 20.5% and they left Corporate taxes alone at 15%

I just think witb Real-Estate finally beggining to decline after a 18 year boom... maybe now is not a good time to take support out of the economy

The other sectors despite doing well may not make up for real-estate if we get a sharp crash as its such a big segment of the economy.

Also rate hikes just started and currency started rising again (nearly 9% curency gain since January) which have to be considered

Canada's investment in their infrastructure would offset the need to increase taxes since the improved economy means the gov is already seeing greater revenue .

Tweaking certain segments to prevent inflation seems to work when the normal balance of supply and demand isn't working (aka) real estate....

The top of the heap always reaps the biggest benefits from growth too, so incentivising some sort of return  via taxes or charitable contributions makes sense  , that way the lower income segment don't suffer all the time.
