I just wanted to see pictures and videos and came to the thread of messy bottoms playing their "Gaga surrounds herself with yes people who say yes to everything she does" schpiel through every time she does something that does not fit within the career they played out for her in her head. :madge: It gets old after hearing it 938493th time, come up with something new.

Where the pics & videos at?

Ikr. That argument sounds so 2013.

amazing stages and productions and voice.

disappointed with the setlist like it's the Joanne World Tour

not "every era of my career so far"

only 8? Songs from Joanne... 8/13... this is my fav album after Born This Way... I expected full album performed not half...

I know it's not a big difference, but I think it's 9, not 8

People who are so deperately trying to bring The Monster Ball as a canon for the theatric cohesiveness of the show need to remember that the whole Monster Ball storyline was expressed through like ten spoken sentenses by Gaga :excuseu: Like

"we'll never make it to the Monster Ball." "Yes you will, I'll take you there."

"Welcome to the Monster Ball. Now dance motherf**kers!"

"Monster we've made it. We've made it to the Monster Ball. Are you drunk? Did you have the time of your life?"

etc. :interestinga:

Not to add that the visual cohesiveness was largely explained by the fact that the lightning range was very limited at the concert.

I am not aiming to throw any shade at the iconic good old sis Monster Ball Tour, but when people are trying to sell it as the sublime achievement of the Broadway it's such a reach I can offer a ladder :ladyhaha: It was simply the first time when Gaga got the palttform of her own arena tour and that's why it was so f**king special. It was also the spirit of the whole event that made it so revolutionary and iconic, especially for the members of the LGBTQ community. Her monologue on "My. Name. Is. Lady. GAGA!" about letting go of all your insecurities was so moving because The Monster Ball was literally one of the first shows from a contemporary artist who so warmly welcomed the LGBTQ :kara: We percieve Monster Ball in a heavenly way because what it meant for us as a fanbase and struggle to be realistic about many of its points.

When people say Joanne show doesn't have theme they often arrogantly mistake theme for concept. The show is probably without concept (meaning it's just the concert), but it doesn't mean it has no theme. There is actually a theme there, which is "play an arena like a dive bar and play a dive bar like an arena", a theme that has been occuring in her performances ever since the Dive Bar tour. It's just a lot more down-to-earth, much like all the things Gaga has been doing ever since 2014, and that's why some people can't swallow it :lolga:

Also, The Monster Ball closely reflected the path of the album. Each song of TFM stands for one of her fears, one of the "monsters" she had/has to deal with. That's why the storyline worked: their car breaks down, towards the end she has to fight the Fame Monster (Paparazzi), then they finally make it to the Monster Ball which culminates with Bad Romance.

The same goes for The Born This Way Ball, which reflects the album's strong political message in the plot: the creation of a new institution/government/territory/race (G.O.A.T.).

Joanne is a really personal album and there are many themes which cannot be incorporated in a cohesive storyline. That's just my opinion.

for me it's not even down-to-earth. I would love to attend concerts of her such as that til the end of my life.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

All I care about is that she sings live, has plenty of energy, great visuals, and lighting.  She did all that.  The only things I would change is replace Joanne with Dance in the Dark, add in Do What U Want, put MR before TC and BR.

Absolutely! The Fame Monster was highly conceptual as a record, as was the Fame, and the tour that followed was determined to follow the strong conceptual lines of the records, and on Born This Way - I couldn't agree more (it's my favourite tour especially the interlude before HML when mother G.O.A.T. talks about invading Earth)

A comment about the sceptics:

I can't help but wonder:

All of you saying that JWT was not cohesive and conceptual. The original theme according to the album was pink hats, cowboys and vintage cars. Would you prefer a retro tour with no stage, no choreography etc. instead of what is being offered? Because if you want a theme you have to stick into the initial plan. That was Joanne in the first place.

Would u be fine with a far west girly concept or would you still melt down over it the way you jujubrutsu now?

Just sayin'....

I wouldn't personally mind a stripped back tour at all. Can't speak for everyone of course but it would make sense, wouldn't it? For an album like Joanne.

Then just leave the cool, crazy imagery for the next era. Don't just put them together for no reason other then fans whining about 'DarkGa', 'TFMGa' and so on. Or hell, do put them together if that's what you want but do it properly - The John Wayne video is a great example for that. It fits perfectly into the Joanne atmosphere but it's also absolutely mental. ( which is what I think they are going for with this tour?) And that's because it had a great director who handled it well.

Also, I do realize this is just the first show and they have a lot of time to improve and create a more polished show. And I'm quite positive that they will do it.

They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.

Yes, the themes of those albums were more direct and I think that's why she put together such theatrical shows.

P.S. I love that interlude too, but my favourite part is Gaga's speech around Bad Romance where she says something like 'I am you Little Monsters, I am everything you love and hate' (and as I am writing this, many other awesome BTWBall moments come to my mind). It was a great tour, it's a pity we did not get an official DVD.

Even 5 years on from the show, we are still mourning the DVD that could be
