How many times have you been told in your life "i dont see you as white?" pretending we don't have differences is ignorant, just like saying you dont see a person as gay you jut see them. "Alternative viewpoint" - she's probably one of those who thinks racism is a thing of the past and that black people just like to whine. "People are becoming violent" - she probably voiced those opinions and probably said problematic things and offended a lot of people on those meetings and they got upset and started to act violent towards her. Now, violence is never the right way of handling these things and she's right to look for protection from the school in that situation. But she can't make this about race. She's clearly saying that black people make everything about race and here she is making everything about race lol. People are not acting up against her because she's white. I feel like words are being put into my mouth... What Im saying is is this situation is out of control and if they keep trying to solve it this way not much good is gonna come from it. That girl that spoke out about what is happening to her in this college is not responsible for what is wrong in their eyes. It's the people with power. When you say 'white people shouldn't be allowed to speak' you're being racist... The vast majority of black people nowadays have never experienced slavery - does that mean they can never talk about it? When you talk about how horrible holocaust was, unless you're a survivor, you're not speaking from experience - does that mean you should not be allowed to express that opinion? If you're a neurologist and you're researching clinical depression but you have never experienced it, does that mean you can never speak of your perception of it? Isn't the whole point to have equal footing among all students and give everyone a fair shot at education? So why encourage a group of people to skip a day worth of classes?
