Even the conservatives didn't think Brexit would happen, that is also the main reason Boris Johnson resigned as party leader and became the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs I'm sad this is happening, I was planning to move to the UK for job opportunities... I perhaps need to rethink that Boris Johnson was never the leader of the Conservatives

I live by canada and you can just get a special license to cross the border without a visa/passport. It's not too hard. Maybe they can just do that. IDK how actually moving works. Can you choose to live/work anywhere in the EU without a whole immigration process? You can live and work wherever you want in the EU. That's why (for example) 1 million Poles moved to the UK in the past 10 years. But the UK was never part of the Schengen agreement, which means the UK never had a truly open border with the EU. Ending Freedom of Movement means that you'll probably need to go through regular immigration bureaucracy when you want to live to the UK or vice versa. Also UK passportholders will need to stand in the longer line for non-EU/CH countries at airports and ferries. Unless EU-UK relations deteriorate, visa-free travel will still be possible. I think mostly truck drivers, EU migrants and traders will suffer from ending Freedom of Movement. More important is that without FoM, you don't get Single Market access which means the UK goes for a hard Brexit, and without a transitional trade agreement the UK will be to the EU like the US and Brazil are: trading partners, but with tariffs, no EU regulations, free to make trade deals without the EU negotiating for them and they can end European Court of Human Rights jurisdiction (which I think is the one of the main goals of Theresa May), which means the UK can do more spying on their people, take in less refugees, have worse workers' rights, etc.

In some ways I hope he becomes the next Conservative leader, just because it basically secures a Labour win at the next election

He has just as many 'haters' as he does fans. After all, he did lose the general election. I think with Brexit it can be mutually beneficial. The UK doesn't have to abide my many (arguably restricting and pointless) regulations and the EU can benefit from not having Nigel Farage in the parliamentary chamber. All jokes aside, I've never been a fan of the European Union as it (in my view) has suppressed western economies over the last 15-20 years, and has become more of a charity than a free trading bloc as it was originally intended. Politicising Europe in such a way was a grave mistake. I did vote to leave last year and I would again, but there definitely needs to be further clarity over certain issues relating to the jobs market, laws and the status of students in the UK and EU. I'm glad now the status of EU citizens in the UK has been determined. when you're gone i'll still be bloody mary
