Was there really anyone that was upset over it being called a 'Moonman'? 'Moonperson' doesn't even sound good.

Do you feel him sir?

Making the award categories gender neutral is an amazing step forward. We never needed to divide awards into best male and best female to begin with.

But changing the moonman to moonperson is a bit silly :awkney:   I don't think it was particularly offensive to begin with and it's just the awards traditional name. But at the end of the day... who cares? It's a stupid award given out by a music channel that isn't even a music channel any more.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I feel the VMAs are just jumping on the bandwagon with this latest Gender Neutral thing (don't get me wrong I'm all for gender neutral awareness) but it seems like such a half assed effort in an attempt to look good. If they want to really make a difference do something a little more worth while/impacting.

LMAO, YES

but we have these too

people are starting to use x instead of a or o :poot:

like, instead of saying "todos tenemos un lado bueno" (we all have a good side) "todos" being the masculine and gender neutral one, and "todas" the femenine one, they say "todxs tenemos un lado bueno" :air:

It's a mess

Moon X.

Interesting. I don't remember getting the memo on tumblr that we were fighting for this - as a self professed "SJW" :green: The disproportionate reactions to something as harmless as this are really quite telling though. Are you actually mad at the VMAs for giving into whatever you are calling "SJWS" this week? Or just mad that people care to challenge things you hold to be sacred, normal, and right for reasons you reject to examine in the name of the status quo :shrug:

~~~
This doesn't bother me, but I'll say they missed an opportunity to call them "Moonie"s. If they had, the award would be in company with 90s Sailor Moon stans and Unification Church cult members; two truly iconic groups of people :ladyhaha:
No seriously, this is random and stupid. Just jumping on the bandwagon. The first person on the moon was a man and that's why the award was like that, so it never was a problem or offensive anyway.
And OMG yes! All here for Moonies!
I actually kind of appreciate it because both men and women would look the same in an astronaut suit. I think they're trying to convey that women can also be astronauts/scientists idk I'm like... okay. I don't see why y'all are overreacting like someone stole your firstborn
chaeri pls
