how is UK in there? They voted for a Brexit. Not very progressive at all

basic human rights, income disparity, housing affordability, violence against minorities, over-all well being, health, social programs

that's what they determined them by.. Brexit is completely irrelevant.

I don't think Latinos and African-American people really are that different culturally from European Americans, at least not in the way Muslims and Asians have a different culture from European Americans. Besides, many of the countries listed were just as segregated - the Netherlands has always been a multicultural society, though not multi-ethnic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pillarisation). Besides, countries like Poland (which didn't suffer from a recession in 2008, amazing economic growth and mono-cultural) are even more conservative/xenophobic than the US.

do you live in the US? i'm in cali and we have everything there and there are some big differences in the way latinos and blacks think as opposed to european whites because we've been historically relegated to the slums of our cities. i mean there isnt a scripture that we abide by that is different, its a difference in upbringing and realities of the environments we come up in. just look at the election results. of course there are lots of liberal whites, but its easy to see how overwhelmingly latinos and blacks supported democrats or bernie to the point where it became very violent. sure some POC support trump, but overwhelmingly POC supported democrats out here

poland is a country with a history of stress like i mentioned. the remnants of the world wars still heavily wear on their minds being caught between germany and the soviets. kind of a perfect example of how external stress can induce fear into a people and make them xenophobic. makes lots of sense

btw it is possible to be multicultural and all diverse as hell and be just fine as long as you dont have severe economic recessions or war/conflict. not sure how the netherlands has been economically in their past since i dont study them much :emma:

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

The Netherlands is so heavily reliant on the world economy that whenever there's a crisis in Germany/the US, there's one here too. And of course it was invaded by Germany in the second world war and got millions of refugees from Belgium/Germany in the first world war and interbellum. I don't really know if Poland is that 'shocked' from events that happened generations ago.

And of course PoC overwhelmingly support democrats, that's prevalent all over Europe too. The Netherlands has a significant African(-American) community (about 20% in the city I live) and a significant Muslim population too (~15% in this city). (Turkish) Muslims used to vote for our left-wing party, but they formed their own party, African Americans tried to do the same but failed. They all overwhelmingly vote left-wing, though.

Ei yllättä, että täällä ei keskustella Suomesta mitään, vaan alettiin keskustelemaan Yhdysvalloista ja Kanadasta ja Islannista. Ei taida monikaan tietää Suomesta mitään. :selena:

Well, Ofc America isn't here, we managed to elect a racist, bigoted orange as president and we don't even like the idea of a woman being president :gum:

Spoiler

Also we rage against the ideas of racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia existing in our society, but take no steps to curb their influence because it makes us uncomfortable :gum: Though maybe thats universal in a sense

You're mixing the thread's topic with Eurovision, I doubt you're in position to judge which country is progressive and which one isn't

besides if I were a Trump supporter I wouldn't be questioning anybody else's progressiveness

The Brexit vote wasn't just about immigration you know...

The NHS, Benifits System and the genera Standard of Living all make it a very progressive and liberal nation.

The fact that a right wing party was the one to push and pass same-sex marriage speaks a lot... Even though it shouldn't be a big deal, they've also had two female Prime Ministers... more than certain other   countries can say... :reductive:

I AM NOT A FOOL. All of these are from 2017. You made It clear back in the day before elections that you supported him.

If that weren't the case, I wouldn't have you in a bad concept. I remember being really triggered and offended by your posts back in the day and no matter what you do or post you can't change the fact that Trump is your president.  Be careful what you wish for and enjoy the next for years.

But I said "I am not a Trump supporter" on 5/3/2016.

That's May 3, 2016. Over 6 months before the election. The election was on November 8, 2016.

Whatever. If I remember something it's because it happened. And even if you weren't a supporter you did offend me. 👋🏼
