His own shadiness and corrupt ways were dismissed. His lack of professionalism and maturity was dismissed. He literally got away with everything Hillary loses 12 classified emails years before from a private server that she's apologized for dozens of times and then she says "deplorable" once and it's all over for her The glass ceiling remains intact Reveal hidden contents And even though I know it's unlikely, I really wish she would run in 2020 and beat Trump's ass in the popular vote (again) AND the electoral college. How f*cking amazing would it be to see him swear her in? "But Donny, I thought I was going to prison?? " She did have it harder, I never said she didn't But people make it seem like that's the sole reason she lost. It just seems like a total cop out to say "oh she lost because America can't handle a female leader!! sexism!!" As trashy and gross as he is, Trump succeeded in ways Hillary could never. He was authentic () and charismatic and his message resonated with middle America. Hers didn't. Hillary has been in the public eye as a political figure for three decades and her campaign had "more of the same" written all over it. Which was why people turned out in droves to vote for Trump and stayed home for Hillary. It's not rocket science
Born To Slay 10,996
Eh, I still want Sherrod Brown for 2020. He's a very experienced man. He's been in the senate since 2007. He was in the house for 14 years. He has great appeal to working class voters that ditched th Dems for Trump. He's been a fierce voice against free trade and helped kill the TPP. He has a specific plan to help workers and how to stop corporations from crushing workers and a detailed plan to renegotiate NAFTA. He'd be the perfect candidate to win back voters that went to Trumps anti-trade, America first message. Brown is also a progressive. He's for single payer, stimulus spending, re-instating glass steagall, he's pro-environment. He's probably the closest you'll find in the senate to meet the progressive check list barring Sanders and maybe Warren. He's also great with minorities. Recently, he came out big time against the White House for ignoring the LGBT community. He's pro-choice. He's also a popular senator from Ohio. A swing state Trump won by 8 points. He'd be the best candidate to bring Ohio back to the Dems. And while doing so, he'd probably bring back PA, WIsconsin and Michigan.

I don't think we are ready for a female President. I am more than ready...along with many others here, but there are too many people that aren't there yet. But we are. The majority of Americans who voted in the 2016 election voted for a woman. Hillary lost because of a campaign that ignored the Rust Belt. She absolutely had it harder because she's a woman, was held to radically different standards, had criticism leveled at her that no male politician ever would have, etc. But when you get down to the nitty gritty, her loss came because she failed to focus on the crowd she thought she had locked down – which, that hubris is what ultimately cost her the presidency. I doubt Delaney will get very far. He's a vanilla candidate. The Democrats need somebody that's able to both contrast Trump on a professional level while not being susceptible to meaningless talking points... somebody like Tulsi Gabbard. Trump could ramble off bullshit about Hillary (emails, Benghazi, etc.) and people nod in agreement. What is there to say about an upstart like Gabbard? Whoever the 2020 nominee is, they should have little to no baggage and be a fresh face on the national stage that can excite the masses. Delaney's boring. tthen 4,621
So many possibilities with the Dems in 2020. I think Trump will either go uncontested or face little opposition in the primaries. Dems have several names (although mostly women and although I'd otherwise be thrilled, they might not risk it in 2020). You have Kamala Harris (would be first woman and Indian prez since she's half Indian), Tammy Duckworth (first woman, Asian, and disabled), Tulsi Gabbard, and Cory Booker. I think Kamala said that she isn't running but I feel like all the names I listed are risky for Dems. The only man is black (and even though we had Obama, there were MANY racist responses to his presidency) and the rest are women. America had one of the most qualified candidates last year but she happened to be a woman. I'm not saying that's the main factor of her loss, but it definitely had a role. The US needs single payer and the health care industry does not want single payer. Plus Big Banks got us into the 2008 recession and do not like Dodd Frank and the Consumer Protection Agency, protections we need.
