I mean, I don't disagree. I definitely think murderers, pedophiles, sex offenders, etc are treated way to well  I feel if the police officer is putting their own safety at risk to arrest a piece of **** human, he should use the necessary means, rather than go really nice and risk themselves getting hurt. And I mean, the murderer or rapist probably could use a couple bumps on the head, tbh :lana:

They are still humans who have to be proven guilty in court.

This OP and title is inappropriately misleading, and I should add that although I know GagaDaily leans left, I think news stories like this (especially regarding our President) should always contain a complete assessment of the situation. Otherwise, it tends to make you look misleading.

Trump did not call for cops to be more aggressive to those they are arresting across the line. This is not a case of Trump stirring the police up in regards to the general population. The OP should have pointed out that Trump was talking specifically about a dangerous and growing gang called MS-13

Members of MS-13 are characterized by tattoos covering the body and also often the face, and by the use of their own sign language. They are notorious for their use of violence and a sub cultural moral code that predominantly consists of merciless revenge and cruel retributions, including, but not limited to forcing Marshall Law-like control of poor neighborhoods, using wives and daughters as retribution by way of kidnapping, raping, and murdering, and also torturing innocent people in communities as a means to obtain power and influence in these communities. This cruelty of the distinguished members of the "Maras" or "Mareros" earned them a path to be recruited by the Sinaloa Cartel battling against Los Zetas in an ongoing drug war in Mexico. Their wide-ranging activities have drawn the attention of the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who have initiated wide-scale raids against known and suspected gang members, arresting hundreds across the country.

This gang has existed since the 1980's but has grown momentously in recent years spreading across the United States and existing predominantly in San Francisco, Long Island, NY, Washington D.C., Charlotte, N.C., and Boston, M.A. The gang is known for its gruesome use of torturing it's often innocent subjects, randomly picking people off the street as a means to gain attention and notoriety.

So no....Trump is not calling for an overall haul of treating those under arrest violently. He is talking about a merciless gang that hasn't been defeated for decades and has brought an influx of drugs and brutality against innocent people.

You guys deserve better than MS-13,  but instead you're worried about the President being too mean to them...a group that literally uses rape and mid evil torture methods as a means of warfare. :saladga:

And? Unless a person is actively resisting or trying to attack a cop there is no reason to treat them roughly even if it is an MS-13 member.

I know this is difficult for many people to comprehend but human rights are for ALL humans. Why? Because civilized people should be above the savagery that goes on in the world.

I agree, we do need to get rid of those ****s. They're barbaric.

I don't have an issue with what Trump said. He didn't say anything offensive there. I'm just disgusted by his presence on LI. He's such a pos.

Omfg, I know. Like I said, the police are people who are putting their lives on the line. So if someone is using violent force against the police, then I don't think the police should have to go easy on them. Obviously if someone is being arrested and not being violent to the police, I don't think the police should hurt them

Thats it, that's all I'm saying :toofunny:

Um......you sound like the type of person that brings a knife to a gun fight.

This gang is not some nice group of people that are going to just say "I need to call my lawyer". These guys ARE BAD GUYS. They are loyal to THEIR GANG and will try and hurt a cop the SECOND they get a chance because they know if they run they have a gang to back them up. These aren't just random one off individuals committing crimes. They're emboldened by the fact they have a merciless gang backing them. Cops can't be soft on them AT ALL. And yes...they have rights, but I honestly don't blame Trump for sensationalizing the idea of going rough on them. Most cops will still be legal about it, but putting it out there that the cops aren't going to go lightly anymore sends a message of strength. Maybe someone will have second thoughts about joining the gang if they know they have an even bigger target on them.

I feel like once you murder someone or rape someone (especially children), you kind of forfeit your human rights :nails: But that's just my opinion.

Yes, so if the person calmly cooperates, they won't get their head bumped :gaycat: But a lot of the time people are struggling, trying to get away, being threatening towards the cop, and the police have no choice but to be rough. That's what I'm talking about when I say they shouldn't have to worry about not harming the person.

Except the difference here is that Trump isn't making the stipulation between those resisting arrest and those not. Cops are the militant arm of the state. What Trump is doing here is building the false narrative that a criminal is a criminal and that they should all be treated the same. All this does is galvanize his base by spreading hysteria. He's just lashing out after his monumental failure with regards to health care without any care for how what he says will actually be received (see the trans tweets and the aftermath of those). Of course in certain situations cops need to use force, but Trump isn't making the same distinction you are. A murderer and rapist are the same as someone who can't afford to pay taxes in his eyes because he's so wildly delusional about the lives of others outside of his immediate sphere of wealth and status.

I know, that's why in my original point I said I ageee with him when dealing with "murderers/rapists or people being aggressive with the cops." I didn't say all people :toofunny:

I hate Trump, and disagree with him on a lot of things. I simply was saying I agree, to some extent, that we go easy on people who have done horrible things and that the police shouldn't have to worry about protecting someon who is being violent.

You don't need to lecture me about MS-13 gangs. I didn't find out about them a year ago like many Americans. They have destroyed communities in Latin America for a long time.

Cops have never "gone lightly" on these gangs. The mass raids are great though and I hope they continue.

When the president makes these types of comments it enables and encourages police brutality. Our police force should be above that. They could learn a thing or to from international police departments.

I didn't question Morphine Prince's intelligence. But what Morphine Prince suggested is literally the same thing as bringing a knife to a gun fight. If it is that insulting, that's Morphine Prince's fault if they're offended or insulted.

You cannot play fair with someone who will never play fair. Again, this isn't some individual who randomly committed a crime and will have to go through the court process with the proper consequences. These are people that are backed by a large gang, and there are long term consequences if the cops don't bust them harder.

innocent until proven guilty? :emma: you dont treat someone like that :duck:

you can clearly see the cops are so hesitant to clap back there but they feel the crowd getting riled up and probably felt compelled to clap for the president. they know that was a ****ing horrible message to send out there

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.
