Does anyone know how much it sold? The site doesn't say. I'm so pleased for her. This makes up for just missing out in 2015. It's so brilliant to see an actual amazing album at #1 for once. So much for certain people in the industry saying that she was done after her debut. I only hope her sales don't tumble downward from here on out.

I love both albums equally. I ranked them the same. They both have their upsides and downsides and both artists are equally as talented. People can enjoy 2 artists, you know and it just so happens that Gaga and Lana are my 2 top favourites. You act like they should be at opposing camps and its just not the case, they have both always shared fans. And Lana also had deep meaning in her album. You clearly haven't listened to it properly.

If you're still basing her vocal abilities on that SNL performance, you have some serious catching up to do. Her vocals slay most female singers around right now, she just needed confidence in herself to properly bring them to fruition. There's plenty more compilation videos like this out there with clips that aren't even mentioned here.

A lot of Lana's music is sad. Her genre is Hollywood sadcore. Singing about sad stuff is a genuine art expression. Plenty of legends have used this style. You act as if sad songs aren't a valid expression of music. And as you can see from the video, she does indeed sing, not talk through them. There's plenty of artists who do talk singing and Lana is not one of them. And I'm perfectly aware of the Gaga diss track, though I still haven't heard it. Lana made it when she was still struggling to be taken seriously and Gaga was on top of the world, so you can see where she's coming from. Lana was also depressed several years ago, which is partly the reason why she made it and it's not like the track was ever on an album anyway. I've let it go because I realise that we can all have childish slights when we're in a low place, she's far too talented an artist to give up on and her and Gaga have even made up and hung out. They've moved on, why can't you?

So, yes, some of the stuff you have said is not true. And while I'm on that point, considering how we're talking about the UK charts, Joanne did not go to #1, it peaked at #3. Annoying, yes, but don't confuse the UK and US charts to make Gaga sound better over Lana.

Well, that's good to hear that you've changed your mind regarding her singing. I never used to think she was a good singer in the beginning either. I bought her album but thought it wasn't worth the money to see her live but then she started getting better and I went to see her live during her BTD re-release and she was brilliant. I think she's more comfortable in front of her fans and just needed more experience. Just like Gaga, the type of vocals on her albums were restricted. It took years before Gaga could finally put some more raw, acoustic vocals on her album like she'd wanted to for years. But we knew she was much better live and took those songs somewhere she couldn't on her official recordings. Lana's kinda similar. She's even does accapella singing flawlessly for songs like Old Money and Salvatore live and even does semi-operatic vocals for Body Electric when live.

I've already said that I don't approve of the diss track either. It was a childish, bitchy and even a little bit cruel thing to do...but that was then and this is now. She's no longer in that place and has made it up with Gaga. If you think her lyrics are psychotic, you've clearly not listened to some gangsta rap or the diss tracks they put out. Lana's been through stuff that Gaga's been through as well - being an alcoholic as a teenager, taking drugs, getting involved with the wrong men and being cheated on, bad reviews and mocked when she put her debut album out...just because we don't know the full extent of it doesn't mean she hasn't suffered as well.

Ok, maybe you just made an honest mistake on the chart comment, so I'll let that pass.

Both are amazing albums, but Lust For Life is just masterclass. 

Lana obviously does sing, so that's a stupid claim to make.. clearly you can't appreciate beauty if you think she "sounds like a sad person talking through background music" because Lana's music is mostly sad but absolutely beautiful. And why hold her to a diss track she wrote before she even became a thing? Petty.
