Military should always operate within limits and in this case, i do see how transgender may cause many complications in the logistics or medical side of things. Your second point however, came off slightly condescending but there is a level of truth to how the two -sexuality and gender equality can be inconveniently passed off as one agenda. What the **** is wrong with either one of you? Disgraceful.

Back then, when I was unaware that transition was a thing, I used to be entirely gay to everybody else for the simple fact of me liking men. And yet because what we believe, with naturally limited research, is a mixup of hormones during prenatal development that causes a disconnect between the brain and body not present within other people, I am trans. I'm not the SJW, hot green lipstick and tongue piercings with thirteen gender identities type. I simply went through a medical transition at 18 years old to correct a hormonal anomaly that originated in the womb. Sure trans people are different from LGB people because it concerns gender identity, not sexuality. I was originally upset with your post but I realize now that you may just not know people who are trans and more hetero normative. I hope that you're open minded enough to learn, perhaps. I don't believe you have the moral high ground to insinuate that people like me are innately decrepit, overly-eccentric or deliberately non-conformist. Unless by definition of sexuality/gender identity I am different than you, I see little difference in our value to society or our inherent right to legal equality. If this is the face of a misfit, then so be it: PREEEEEACH, Mawma! Rise above!

Tresor 1,649
Can't believe something like this is announced via three-part tweet on the President's personal twitter account, what a strange, ugly period in American history.
TheJackMonster 1,857
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with this since I don't know all the facts. Do any of you know the "tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail"? or are you commenting on an issue you know nothing about? why don't you practice what you preach. Girl, first of all, in regards to Trump there is no "not agreeing or disagreeing" (i.e. being impartial) as he is the literal scum of the earth and deserves no chances how evil he is. Secondly, they've already said $8 million annually for transgender individuals' medical costs, having already spent $28 million on Afghan uniforms and $50 million on Viagra. There's no excuses. Actually we do. Around $8 million for transgender soldiers, while they spend around $50 million on Viagra, and around $24 million on Cialis, almost 10 times as much on medicine to make them get horny. Sam Dey 1,847
My god it's not like he fired all trans people from the military because they are trans. No they just don't allow trans people in the military anymore because once you're in the military your life is completely in hands of the government meaning they pay everything for the soldiers. Meaning they would've payed for every medical procedure that trans people undergo and those are very expensive. As a matter of fact if you look at the numbers the total cost of their health care would increase overall expenditures on health care by between $2.4 million and $8.4 million annually, which amounts to a 0.04 to 0.13 percent increase in total active component health care expenditures. Although I don't support Trump in this decision because the military could've made other budget cuts instead of these because they are against trans people serving for their country which does translate to discrimination no matter how you twist or turn it. I just wish that liberals would protest more against the matter of budget cutting instead of blaming it all on transphobia and whining about it. The way that the media and liberals deal with these things isn't going to solve anything. If it did then America wouldn't lay in the hands of a republican leader right now. It obviously has nothing to do with the money There's a few explanations that are probable. Spoiler - Total ignorance and bigotry. It wouldn't be anything new from Trump or his administration. - He's trying to give Republicans a push in 2018 by creating a polarizing topic. - He's trying to take some attention off of the GOP's FIFTH failure at repealing the ACA. "Art of the Deal" my ass - He's trying to throw the heat off of himself for the Russia investigation - He's going to put this tiny fraction of change into the "wall fund". Not wanting tax payers to pay for this kind of treatment is not irrational. I'm not transphobic....just transcautious Where does you 'not wanting tax payers to pay for' end? Tax payers pay for erectile dysfunction treatment in the military. Tax payers fund Trump's golf trips to the 'winter White House'. We also funded his wife and youngest child to live in New York for six months. And, where does not wanting to fund an employees healthcare end? Do you really think it is moral and legal to discriminate against certain people in employment due to potential medical costs? Should someone with a pre-existing condition not get hired by a company because of the healthcare costs? I'm just wondering if this is your way of showing disdain for transgender individuals, or if you hold such morals across the board...

Our military is about effectiveness, not virtue signaling. Let's face it....trans people require hormone and psychiatric treatment. Our troops need to be ready at a moments notice to serve...we can't be catering to everyone's needs and we can't guarantee access to their treatment needs while deployed. Erectile dysfunction is an actual medical condition with a relatively affordable treatment. Transgender people in the military cost 14 times more money than the cost for other people serving (From the RAND study).

Since when do we need soldiers to be able to get erections anyway? Why doesn't Trump just skip golfing for a weekend? That would save enough tax payer money to pay for trans soldiers' bills. YeehawKylie 7,817
Just now, rph99 said: The military also doesn't allow diabetics or people with asthma. Yes, two disabilities which effect ones ability to serve in battle. Not sure if being transgender is comparable to this... 1 minute ago, rph99 said: Our troops need to be ready at a moments notice to serve...we can't be catering to everyone's needs and we can't guarantee access to their treatment needs while deployed. You do realize transgender individuals are currently serving and have served in the military? They seem to be managing just fine...their treatment varies. 2 minutes ago, rph99 said: Viagra is an actual medical condition with a relatively affordable treatment. Health care coverage to transgender personnel indicated that active-component health care costs would increase by between $2.4 million and $8.4 million annually, representing a 0.04- to 0.13-percent increase in active-component health care expenditures. The RAND study does not recommend transgender individuals not be able to serve. Also, Viagra costs the military $84 million annually according to the same RAND study, so not sure its affordable. You just think providing healthcare to men is valid and healthcare to transgendered men and women is not.
