That's not what I meant. I mean that DJs used to feature unknown, uncredited vocalists in their tracks. The 90's rave scene is chock full of dance tracks with female voices on them but there's no mention of her name in the title nor does she feature in the video. That used to be the whole nature of dance tracks. The focus was on the music itself, not who the singer was. The singer got paid and all, we just didn't know who they were. But now it's a whole different ball game. The likes of David Guetta and Calvin Harris started putting established artists on their records, putting their name in the title and even putting them in the video. These songs became highly successful to the point where artists realised that this could be a great vehicle to make them current, especially in between eras, especially with the youth listeners. And naturally, DJs thought that a big name could really help sell their songs and also, help sell their albums (albums by DJs are rarely huge). Everyone's a winner, basically. So, the likes of Ed, Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Nicki Minaj, etc. have done multiple collabs with DJs in a bid to extend their success, keep their name out there between eras and/or to claw fading success back.
