Korok 4,272 Posted July 24, 2017 Share Posted July 24, 2017 I feel like after the BTW era Gaga's picked up vocal technique that has made her voice rather unpleasant to listen to. First of all, it's a lot deeper nowadays than it used to be. Her voice used to be so feminine and sweet. Although I enjoy this short performance a lot, I don't understand why she is singing like that. Not to sound mean or anything but it sounds like she's swallowed a frog. She experimented with this technique with Dope on ARTPOP, too. Thoughts? Why is she doing this? Is it on purpose or is her voice just naturally changing? Its like a heaviness to her voice that allows her to be very expressive but it doesn't sound pleasant, as you said. I don't know why she does this either. Her voice has certainly gotten deeper, and it may be a natural thing, as she's gotten older. Her voice has gotten more operatic and "theatrical" in a way, but I really like that. It makes her voice perfect for the types of songs on Joanne, but for upbeat, "modern" pop songs, I don't know.
