theahsfan 13,822
Gaga says in an interview that took place when Joanne was released that she doesn't want to fit into the "algorithm" that is the current, basic style of music, she wants to do something completely different which is why she always jumps to these different styles. But then what was The Cure about? Because it wasn't at all trashy but it fits into the current formula for a radio hit, so why the sudden change of heart? I'm not complaning btw.zip or disrespecting Gaga as an artist, I love The Cure and hope she makes similar songs in the future to grace radio once again
Cuchulainn 3,040
Pressure from label, just wanted to make a fun pop song, maybe she thought it was different. Who knows honestly. It's still better than 90% of current songs played on the radio.
ryanripley 86,575
its not like she's pushing the song as if it's a lead single for an album, it was just a one off made by her and DJWS instead of a full album campaign of a similar commercial sound https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ
RonnieGagz 4,300
I think that's why she isn't promoting the song. It was released just for fun and to help her Coachella show (I also think Gaga just recorded it when she knew she was performing) ♡Gaga♡TØP♡Nightwish♡Lana♡Lorde♡Grimes♡

Easy 5,305
Talk to me again when you find another so called trendy song that includes vocals that match TC. Selena's whispery vocals? Chainsmokers cant even sing vocals?

Whilst I love Gaga's vocals on it and think they're way better than any other singer's, it still fits the "trendy" formula
HairBow 599
Well, it's not like Gaga has treated The Cure as a real single. It's just a bonus song.
TheSlash 14,539
I read somewhere TC was originally made for the ASIB Score (which is produced by Gaga) but instead it was released for her fans . Spoiler I'm wrong, maybe Spoiler Don't quote me in that case Ew, David!

ReallyVenus 327
Isn't The Cure an ASIB reject? Who stepped on my taco?
YeehawKylie 7,817
The Cure is rumored to be an ASIB reject, which makes total sense giving the timing and lack of promotion that was eventually given to the song. A majority of the songs written for ASIB are said to be pop-friendly.

Miel 15,009
If we're going by the possibility the song was written for Sonja, my guess is that she wanted a simple, easy song, with a kind message, to release to the world. 3 points in and ready for more
Miguel blas 54
She probably realized her Joanne direction sucked and she tried gaining back some more fans from the mess that is the Joanne era don't get me wrong it was eh not as good as her previous albums in my opinion still love her and going to the tour in Inglewood lmao
