Gaga should just give us everything

As a fan, I agree she should release the material for our enjoyment, however like a skilled surgeon, Gaga's work is her longevity. As the sole creator (in some cases) she gets to decide what she chooses to share with the world and what she chooses to keep. A song like "Temple" would definitely be awkward for her to release now, alongside songs like "Red Flame" and "Ratchet," especially after having somewhat re-branded herself. I think perhaps for a greatest hits album she should do like some artists and release a double disc with hits and perhaps remakes/finishes of her unreleased material. "Nothing On (But The Radio)" would rest-assured have to be included alongside "Brookyln Nights," and perhaps, "TEA" because if not, where's the fun in that? :hor:

I think one thing Gaga fans need to be careful of is not pidgeon-holing her to solely ARTPOP unreleased as has said previously, she's "moved on" at least in her own right. Act. II, along the app, the included films and remixes will just have to be part of the under-recieved conceptual entity that was ARTPOP.

And you think I don't know that? :sure:

but a lot of stuff restricts her from making art and that shouldn't be the case. It's unauthentic. I get that she wants to perfect her songs until the release date but sometimes she releases unfinished stuff like heavy metal lover or the cure so I think that's not the case. It's more probable that she restricts herself or the label does.

To put it in perspective it's like a painter stopping from making art because of the brand of the canvas.

she's also trapped in the album-tour cycle. She should release material even if it's a b sides album or stand alone singles.

i hope I made myself clear

Sure, I understand your point of view.  Don't expect anything to be released until she's artistically satisfied with it, tho.  She has been saying in so many words that she will no longer bend to pressures from management or label to do things just because they feel it is more profitable or they have a different vision.  It is clear she is putting art first, and that may mean we have to wait.  To me, "authentic" means music exactly they way the artist intended it.

I think what she could do is that whenever she decides to have a kid and take a break from music she should start releasing each of her unreleased songs every week...like 1 song a week or something. It would be fun while she takes like a 3 year break or whatever.

Yet they choose Perfect Illusion as the lead, something that she has heavily implied that she didn't want. Gaga may be more in control than before, but her label still has a great deal of control.

Oh I thought you meant everything as in me asking for 32k to pay off my student loans. Silly me :saladga:

I mean the songs are probably on hard drives or whatever tied up tighter than a force field and haven't been played in years so why not "leak" it Boris?

i once read that the label keeps them so they can sell off the instrumentals and/or concepts to other artists, which makes leaking unreleased songs very dangerous but i have zero industry knowledge so i don't know how true that is :selena:

Yes, and it's also her legacy.  She creates her music for posterity.  In the classical music world, Gaga reminds me most of Brahms, who mulled over his work until he considered it perfect.  From his wikipedia: "An uncompromising perfectionist, Brahms destroyed some of his works and left others unpublished."

I think Gaga is one of those unusual people who doesn't conform to norms.  The industry is based on money, but her mind focuses on art.  I thought indie would be a good choice for her, as she would be able to call the shots.  But her propensity to get personally involved in everything she can (she created costumes and even sewed them, and designed stage sets) may make indie a bad idea.  If she went indie, imagine if she tried to get involved in each of the many tasks a label does.  She would have much less time to create her music.  It's like the software engineer who loved to design and write computer programs, and did just that working 8 hours a day for a large tech company.  Then he decided he wanted the freedom of being his own boss, and started a small software company.  Now he has all the work of running a business, with little time left to do what he loves ... writing programs.

So Gaga remains in a situation where the label can and will call some of the shots, which may be fine for some artists, but must be frustrating for Gaga.

I always say she should re-release ARTPOP as a double album with ACT 2 (and cut R Kelly from DWUW)

GAGA listen to me! Do it for ARTPOP 5 year anniversary :selena: Can you believe that's next year? :selena:
