Also for the month of October; I think it would be cool for us to do a rabb.it horror movie stream at least once a week. I'd like to host the 1st week and show you guys John Dies at the End.

Shorts/Video, Review, and Activity Update

Kuso = 7/10 (available on Shudder)

A gross and surreal body horror comedy about the mutated survivors of a major earthquake in Los Angeles. It's told through 4 vignettes and not for the faint of the heart. Best enjoyed if high or drunk while watching it lol.

Mike Made a Maze = 7.5/10 (available to rent on VOD platforms)

A fantasy adventure comedy horror about a group of friends that have to rescue their friend, Dave from a cardboard maze he built in the middle of his apartment. I had high hopes for this after seeing the trailer months ago, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The special effects were fantastic and the acting was great; but the humor didn't always land and the plot wasn't the most entertaining. Still recommend just to see it.

The Monster Project = 8.5/10 (available to rent on VOD platforms)

A found-footage horror about a crew making a documentary on 3 people who claim to legit real monsters. This was very enjoyable and the premise was interesting and fresh. The atmosphere, acting, and special effects were great. The plot though predictable at times was intriguing and the scares definitely helped.

Death Note = 9.5/10 (Netflix Original)

An American live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime in which a high schooler named Light obtains a supernatural book that kills whoever's name is written in it. I'm not too familiar with the source material as I only saw a couple of episodes but I loved even if it did leave out some details. The acting, special effects, gore, and suspense were fantastic. The touchs of humor really worked. And the plot was throughly engaging with some twists. I hope it gets a sequel.

Kill Me Now = 8 (available to rent on VOD platforms)

A parodic horror comedy about a high school party in a cabin in the middle of the woods that is interrupted by a serial killer. The acting was good; their comedic timing was on point. The humor was dumb and slapstick and worked, with the jokes landing more often than not. The story wasnt the most interesting but worked for the movie and had a nice twist. I'd say the movie is like 90% comedy; 10% horror though. A good late night type of movie.

The Vault = 8 (available to rent on VOD platforms)

A horror-thriller about a group of bank robbers getting more than they bargained for when the bank they're robbing harbors a supernatural force. This is another one I had higher hopes for that weren't fully met. The acting was good believeable and the special effects were on point. But the plot was kinda predictable and needed more depth. And the scares only worked half the time. Nice atmosphere though.

Jackals = 8.5/10 (available to rent on VOD platforms)

A horror-thriller set in 1983, about a family terrorized by the cult that are trying to deprogram one of them from. A pretty great movie even though it reminded me of a mixture of The Purge, The Strangers, and You're Next. The acting was really great and the suspense really worked. The plot though engaging did have predictable moments and stupid character choices. It's the type of movie you can watch once and be satisfied but rewatch every once in a while if it's on.

Little Evil = 8 (Netflix Original)

A horror comedy about a new stepdad that has to deal with his evil stepson. It parodies movies like The Omen and The Exorcist. It was a fun movie with good replay value and probably gets a little better with each watch. The performances were all around charming. The humor was spot on. But the plot, though fun and workable could have gone further and more in depth. Another good late night type movie.

Have y'all seen this? It's older and has cheesy moments but I have to watch it every year, one of my favorites and I didn't see it mentioned.
