Yeah but it was the promo that killed the album because most of the singles were met with negative criticism.

Witness probably would've done better as a surprise release, people had a while to take in SS and BA and didn't like it.

I can see this. It may have done better. But the album is terrible (besides Witness and Roulette) that it wouldn't have kept up past the first week. I don't think she could pull off a surprise release with her next release. She'd probably have to wait and see if her next album is better received.

Adele, Taylor Swift, Eminem & Gaga (if she pulls it off correctly. If she released TC with its MV + a bit of promo here & there, it would've peaked within the top 10 by now)

But we aren't talking about the past. Witness was not well received and did not do well (for Katy's standards). She could not do a surprise release with her next release. She would have to gain the GP back to her side.

Honestly though, "Swish Swish" and "Bon Appétit" are the only two Katy Perry songs I like, and they are bangers. I'm lowkey upset no one likes them but the rest of the album is trash so I can see why it didn't sell. Witness should have been a surprise release because she still had the fame she built up from Prism and all of it's singles. It would have been a really good surprise tbh. New look, new direction, new wokeness:sis:

If Madonna puts together a really good album, she could pull it off. As for having the balls to do it, if it were up to Madge, she definitely would have them to do so.

I THINK  TAYLOR , BRUNO , EMINEM , MADONNA , ETC....

BUT THE THING IS IF THEY COULD HAVE SUCCESSFUL SINGLES :oprah: (BEYONCE AND LEMONADE  DON'T HAVE HITS)

Gaga has the balls for it and she could pull it off. I doubt she'd ever surprise release an album though

She tends to like hyping the base, expressing what this album means, and then introducing us to a whole new chapter in her/our lives :diane:

The Cure was basically a surprise release and it went #1 on ITunes in +60 countries (still the only female song to top ITunes WW in 2017)

Over.

Taylor, Eminem I guess, perhaps Rihallah, Nicki, maybe Ariana.

Nicki? for real? the girl who delayed her album like 7 times to get the #1 spot at billboard hot 100 but but failed to beat 1989 in its 6th week? :classy:

What number specifically? And what was the second week numbers? And what is the current chart position?

Gurl, you need to stop smoking whatever you are smoking.

Prism was pretty massive and now she dropped off the radar.
