Upon listening to the whole album. I really like it, but I'm not sure where it stands amongst her other albums yet. I need more listens.

I love how a lot of the songs reference each other and past songs. But it does feel like a lot of the songs sound too similar. I'm living for her vocals though; she's serving major high notes. Plus the lyrics are great.

"My people… need to let our bitchiness out. Otherwise, it turns to bile and poisons us"

I love the cohesiveness of this album. The first two and the last two songs make a good circle and lots of songs are connected to each other in some sense. The ones that come into my mind are those:

- Gun firing in Heroin and Love
-Doo-wop in Lust for Life and Get Free
-How White Mustang rhymes summer and bummer, talks about a guy that dropped his record, and then leads to Summer Bummer and Groupie Love
-The almost same melody of White Mustang and Heroin
-Lyrics of Cherry and 13 Beaches completing each other
-"Black beaches" in Summer Bummer and Cherry
-"My babe, made me sing to a fire escape" in Groupie Love and "I hear the sweetest melodies on the fire escapes of the city" in God Bless America
-Heroin saying "makes me feel like I can change" at the end and leading to Change
-Get Free completing the story of Change

There sure is more. Does anyone have an addition?

Can someone tell me which songs are the best? I don't have time to listen to it for 71 minutes

This is the best album of her career.  Way better than Honeymoon.  One of the best of the year also.

When I first listened the album I was like "yeah, it's great, a step further from HM, but it's not my cup of tea", but I keep going back to it :poot: Am I re-stanning? :poot: I better :oprah:

I'm taking my time to let it sink in, just like I have to do for any Lana album. But here's the ones that are a perfect 5/5 stars so far:

Lust For Life

Cherry

Summer Bummer

In My Feelings

Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind

When The World Was At War We Kept Dancing

Beautiful People Beautiful Problems

Heroin

Get Free

The rest is like 4/5 stars so far with White Mustang being by far the worst track, it's just ok. It's so short and pointless that I don't even know why she put it on there. I'm now interested to know if she left off better tracks for that. It's still another great release but I'm pondering as to how great it is right now. I haven't actually read the lyrics in front of me just yet and my feelings might change after that.

I can't wait to get my copy after class! Can anyone recommend me which tracks I should listen to first? :sis:

I think it's better if you listen to the whole thing from beginning to end. I think it's a really counter-productive way to listen to an album. If you listen to all the good stuff first, the rest of it is going to see so anti-climatic and a depressing way to end. But read my list above if that's what you insist on.

Thanks! I always listen to all the tracks, however just wanted to see which tracks people liked so I could especially watch out for them ;) I just bought my copy now so time for the moment of truth :tea:

So, now that i've had some time to listen to and process this album, I have some thoughts. The album definitely isn't my favorite from Lana, and the tracklist order and inclusion of certain filler songs bogs down the overall quality and listening experience.

Love is simple and gorgeous. Lust for life is great. 13 beaches is okay--feels like it would fit better later in the album, or even as an album closer. (i wouldn't mind if it was cut, too).

Cherry is great! One of my faves.  White mustang has great production and good melody, but would've been a cool interlude. In my feelings is...bad. I hate the lyrics and production (in the chorus). Summer bummer is okay. Groupie love is pure filler. The concept and lyrics are so cliche and don't feel new or interesting. the production and melody are nice. Coachella is fine. Not my fave. it can go.

God bless america, when the world was at war, BPBP, and TNC are EXCELLENT. I'm bothered these got tacked on later in the track listing as these feel like the center of the album and are easily the highlights. They should've had prime track listing locale.

Heroin is good, and change is pretty (but has a weird structure; is that a pre-chorus, chorus and then post-chorus?). Finally, get free has some nice parts, but feels unfinished/underproduced (why is "out of the black/into the blue so loud?)

My perfect tracklist:

Lust for life

Love

Cherry

God Bless America

When the world was at war

Beautiful people beautiful problems

tomorrow never came

White mustang (interlude)

Heroin

Summer Bummer

Change

(target bonus tracks could be coachella and 13 beaches)

=amazing album.

Hoping to pick up my signed copy this week

Slowly been getting through the album and I've been really loving it so far! 13 Beaches is so cinematic sounding, it reminds me of Hans Zimmer's 'Time'.
