JPM 781
no offense but i think you uk fans are really slow with the music stuff, ellie's burn was out ever since the beginning of july and the song made it to the #1 spot just a week ago? whoah. and you expect gaga to slay just a week after the song's official release date. tbh, i won't panic about the situation in the uk for the next 3 or 4 weeks. Ellie released the song/video on youtube before releasing it on iTunes. It topped iTunes hours after it was released.

Samuel 3
We don't really have "weird number ones" in the UK, at least no weirder than what tops the charts in other countries like the US, Canada, Australia, etc. A lot of the songs that hit #1 or chart inside the top 10 in the UK are usually songs that have also topped the charts or have charted inside the top 10 in other countries around the world (Robin Thicke, Avicii, Daft Punk, Justin Timberlake, will.i.am). Over half of the songs that have hit #1 in the UK this year have either been from American or European (non-UK) artists. As for Gaga, she needs to head over to the UK and promote. 'Judas' was flopping until she performed it on British TV. I doubt 'Applause' is going to hit #1 but it could very well peak a little higher than #5 or at at least remain inside the top 10 for a few more weeks. The music video certainly isn't having much of an effect on the song as it's still #9 on iTunes. If the second single from ARTPOP fails to hit #1 or chart inside the top 3 then it's pretty obvious the interest in her in the UK has waned considerably. That will be the real telling. Let's just see. Yet ANOTHER negative post from you... what a surprise.

Yes we're slow with music that Dubstep was big here 10 years ago and yet it became big in Sttes about 2 years ago. Pure hypocrisy saying we are slow with music

It doesn't work like that here... songs get exposure through airplay, music videos and promo but they aren't released here for months... that's just the way things work over here. This is why Katy's not releasing Roar until mid September...

Not really. Most releases in the UK are preceded by weeks of radio and video promo, but generally big international artists like Gaga release with the on air on sale technique. Even though Applause wasn't really on air on sale because of the rush release. Releases in the US and UK are just different. Music doesn't tend to debut high then fade off and never come back in the US like it does here, it's a more gradual process which is why Burn, and many other songs are released earlier
Harry 26,836
She could potentially be on it the week after next, that would be a few days after her itunes festival performance? Is filming not done a few days before anyway? Yes it is, and that's why I'm hoping she might be on that episode too! Sunday 1st - iTunes Festival Monday 2nd - Radio 1 interview - maybe Live Lounge even? Tuesday 3rd - Capital & maybe others, interviews Wednesday 4th - Film Alan Carr episode Then she could go off and do some other European promo maybe, or back to the US and do some talk shows or something.
