i hope the VMAs performance can do something here. i know not many people watch it but we just have to reach at times like this

If she does something shocking it'll be all over the papers, so here's hoping she comes back better than ever

Maybe the video will have huge global impact like Bad Romance/Poker Face/etc.

We can hope. Those videos DROVE those songs.

I remember when the Telephone music video came out. That's what pushed it to number one. Applause could have the same effect seeing as its Gaga's comeback

It is very hard to say or assume anything at this point, but I think she will get that n.1 in many countries!  Even though it is a little bit risky releasing MV at the same day the song debuts, if the video is great, it will be a great plus for her! Everyone will want to hear the song, so they will have to click and see the video!

Also, in 6 days, she will have a big performance, hopefully, it goes okay and she does another 2-3 promos/performances, she can't fail!

The only problem I see here is that the song just isn't radio-friendly or something like that, and I hope it is...

Ellie's never had a proper dance record like Burn which appeals to the GP so much + it's top 100 on itunes on pre-orders alone

The Emeli/NB collabs peaked where they did before NB became a huge name in the UK...Emeli is huge, and NB now has a single which is looking likely to sell over a million by the end of the year, so things have changed.

If Gaga beats them, it'll only be for the first couple of days.

Burn isn't hugely different from some of the songs from Ellie's first album. Lights was pretty dancey but flopped in UK. The Calvin Harris duet didn't go #1 either, unlike the Florence Welch remix.

Isn't Emeli due for a 2nd album backlash? Just like Adele's Bond single underperformed despite being a good song imo.

PS: Emeli & Naughty Boy got #10 with their last song in 2012. That was after her getting #2 with Heaven and #1 deutting with Prof. Green in 2011.

She also had another single with NB which charted at #8.

Lights was the 5,945th single from her album so it was never going to do well + the Calvin/Ellie duet was single number EIGHT single from his album. Neither were ever going to #01.

Again, the Emeli/NB songs underperformed before NB became a big deal. 'Daddy' never even had massive radio support

the Calvin/Ellie duet was single number EIGHT single from his album. Neither were ever going to #01.

For Ellie fans, it was like her second single. And it peaked very similar to her lead single.

Good chance it would be #1 if released before either album, but that wouldn't be a fair test of Ellie's fanbase alone.

My girl has never had a #1, but I'd still prefer for Gaga to go #1 this round

How many big or once-big UK artists are gearing up for a fall release?

Kylie - good chance of fall album, but might wait till 2014.

Jessie J - next single coming: http://instagram.com/p/cj3E1jw0VD/ - likely fall release.

Pixie Lott - new album this fall

Eliza Doolittle - new single out

Goldfrapp - new album in September

Ellie Goulding - maybe a re-release

I would be really interested in seeing how Summertime Sadness would do without Wake Me Up, an EDM ultra hit, reigning so hard.
