What is going on with Right Now? It's not impacting anywhere. On the release info, it claims its been sent to radio on June 12th and was available for download on July 8th. But It's only sitting at #97 in the UK (it debuted at #36 when the album was released). It has no video and there doesn't seem to be an overall worldwide release and it is the next worldwide single. I've noticed that Rihanna's team seem to be letting everything after the second single flop recently. TTT seemed to halt all promotion after WFL which is weird because she should have milked its success to get a huge second single. It's no wonder that album's singles are almost completely unknown by the public. And it seemed that after Stay ran its course, Def Jam stopped caring and just focused on putting her on tour. The whole point of putting out a mega generic single like Right Now is to achieve a hit, so why is it being allowed to flop? Interest in Rihanna's album has taken a dramatic dip (it was at #75 last week and hasn't improved much since then), which is very unusual for her at this stage and her UK stint of the tour will be over on Friday, so she'll have had her promotional opportunities are about to run dry for this era. If this were Gaga, we'd be going nuts with "WTF is going on with her new single?!" posts.

Its been available to download since Unapologetic was released; people just cherrypick/download it from the album. As for what's going on? Absolutely nothing. I can confirm it hasn't ONCE even cracked the itunes top 100 here. it's one of the biggest flops of her career here, and Radio 1 + Capital have both dropped it from their playlists.

I couldn't be more confused because it's a generic club banger which the public love (and club bangers are NOT going out of style here; I mean look at 'Play Hard' by David Guetta, which has performed very well), and, well, it's Rihanna, and she always does well here.

I don't get why people are confused as to why Right Now isn't performing. It's simply just not a good song.

It's sounds like your average generic dance song that the GP loves

...because Rihanna always has mega hits in the UK and it's a generic dance song which the public love? It's really not that hard to understand why people are confused

Just because something is generic doesn't automatically imply that the GP will like it. They're not buying it so they obviously don't like it enough.

I agree, it's a 2nd rate David Guetta production with 3rd rate lyrics about "living for the moment" (which remind me of every recent Pitbill song). Plus hardcore Rihanna fans already have the album, and there hasn't been decent promo.

There is no such thing as a "generic sound" the public likes. Every sound goes through a cycle from risky, to fresh, to safe, to stale, to behind the times.

You're giving the GP too much credit :smh:

Rihanna's star could very well be fading in the UK. It's not as clear-cut as you make it out to be.

...Where Have You Been (another generic club hit) was released after TTT sold well + had no promo, and it did really well...so...yeah.

Calvin then was a lot fresher than Guetta now (the breakdown thing etc). That's one of C's best song, but Rights Now is hardly one of G's best.

It was also closer to Rihanna's UK peak in the Loud era.

But she flopped with the 2nd single from TTT too, even though it was a Dr. Luke production.

Guetta's still "in", though...

Sorry, but this isn't about the quality of the song. Rihanna's released some absolute turds over the years (Hello, You Da One), and they've always performed at least decently. Right Now is possibly the biggest flop of her career EVEN WITH Radio 1 + Capital support, and her album currently sits at #69 on the album chart. It's getting very apparent that the public are becoming bored.
