So you're pretty much saying Carly is gonna flop into irrelevance?

Yup :awesome:

LOL, looks like Carly wants to stay in the game. I like her, but I can't judge her just yet with only one song. :P

Carly has like...no stage presence. I don't see her lasting very long. The Vanessa Carlton comparison is perfect. :golfclap:

The Carley Ray Jepson hype went down for me after seeing her at the Much Music Awards, she sucked so ****ing bad, even worse than Rihanna and Katy Perry. Boring performance, no stage presence, extremely bad lyrics...

Unless Carly can do some iconic ****, she'll be gone forevs. She seems real basic right now. Not hating on her though.

i feel the same about Carly. I mean she's fun and cute, but that's about it. She's very normal (which isn't bad persay). I know the lady who fronts Lady Antebellum(sp?) gets on my nerves because she dresses like a bored lazy teenager and that is not something a famour person should do. I'm not saying everyone should be like Gaga, but some flair would be nice lol. Great voice on the both of them though! And I really like Justin's music too, but he definitely is a s-x symbol for all those cray cray teenage girls. He is good at what he does, so I hope he doesn't flop once his core audience has moved on a little. When you intend on being famous you have to do something iconic and memorable and not just rely on looks and one or two catchy songs because all that won't sustain your career. u gotta keep that sh!t up!

In fairness, Carly is not striving to appeal to Gaga's fanbase or be a gay icon or performance artist.

Maybe a pop music Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry combo.

It's smart to branch out to Owl City and Fun so she doesn't get labelled "teen pop female Bieber" (which isn't her musical background anyway).

It must suck because even though people like CMM, it's more of a "make fun of" song. Nobody takes it seriously. Everyone is always adds their own lyrics and stuff. Is there another example of a song from an artist that was CONSTANTLY parodied?

I feel like she should do something more serious to suit her age. She is 26, and her music leads you to believe she is like 16 or 17. I think her chances would be much better if she would act her age.

Hey guys, the new Pitbull ft. Shakira single has leaked!!

http://jams.to/2012/...it-started.html

You guys think it will be a big hit?? I sure hope so!!

I love Shakira! Pit Bull, no. I am tired of hearing him on the radio tbh. I don't want him to fail or anything like that, but he just doesn't appeal to me in the least.

I love that song and it makes me so happy, but it really is just a fun silly song. I think it's a neat idea that no one's really touched on before and she did really well with it, and the music video was very humorous. But to make it she'll need something with a little more meat.

C'mon, you sound like she's promoting binge drinking or slutting it up in a Catholic school girl outfit.

26 years olds can be cute and innocent too, or lust after guys and feel insecure about them calling.

If you saw on on Canadian idol, you'd know her youthfulness is very authentic. How about are Fun anyway - do they have to be under 21 to write We Are Young?

I'd call it a "have fun with song." People had fun the same way with Bad Romance and California Gurls. Viral videos etc.

I'm just saying that she is acting too young. she dresses young, the songs i've heard from her are young sounding almost to the point of being cheesy, and yes I like them, but i feel like she could and should do something a little deeper. And your "We Are Young" example sort of works against your point, because yes it's singing about being young, but not like 14 young which is the vibe Carly gives off to me. it's not just a fun pop song about a basic concept. I don't want it to seem like I'm bashing her, because I'm not. She's a good artist, just a little too immature.

Carly reminds me of Colbie Cailat.... if you don't remember her, you might remember her infectious song.

Don't you agree?
