Nagini 179
The reason 'TTT' and 'BC' underperformed has nothing to do with overexposure, it has to do with the public's reaction to Rihanna reconcling with Chris once again this year. The public has had it with her attitude and double standards. It's the same reason 'WHYB' hasn't smashed. WHYB will smash. It's #5 on Billboard and radio is picking the single up. TTT didn't have a video and that's the reason why I think it didn't smash. It charted at #31 in Billboard along with multiple countries worldwide so I'm pretty sure it would've gotten top 10 or top 5 with a music video due to exposure. BC had no video as well but again, I'm sure it would've gotten fairly well if it did.

Increasingly, they aren't letting hip hop cross over (yay!). WHYB is already huge on radio but sales have lagged, so it can't go much higher.

But if you're saying Lady Gaga slayed in 2008 and that Carly is going to slay 2012 then you're wrong Gaga didn't SLAY until 2009 with Poker Face. Ke$ha has practically faded since then and Nicki had one successful single that year. Lady Gaga didn't gain popularity until 2009. Katy Perry didn't even start to "slay" until 2010. And one, maybe two, successful singles doesn't make you all that great, sorry to say. And I'm pretty sure 18 isn't a top ten debut...but nice try. Breakthrough new female artist 08 Katy 09 Gaga 10 Kesha 11 Nicki or Adele? (N more in albums, A wasn't really new) 12 Carly Rae? PaperIz 7,308
so glad to see Owl City back on the radio! Now people will stop thinking Fireflies is his only song ever >:| I notice most people on here are recognizing Carly's presence on the single, but not Owl City himself lol. I haven't heard "Good Time" on the radio yet though! I love hearing "Wide Awake" on the radio! I fell in love with it months ago! I want some less techno dancey music on the charts though. Something more traditional, but less Adele. She's amazing, but a little boring at times. Human generated art

She gained most of her popularity through the TD era. With Kesha, how many people outside of fanbases knew she wrote TtWE? And an artist can take a break without completely disappearing.
