Album sales money is used to make up for the money spent making the album in the first place. Hence, why Adele made less money than Britney and Gaga even though she had triple their sales. Gaga has a lot of stiff competition coming up this fall. It seems that way, though until now we've never seen an artist dating before Rihanna give her serious competition. Still has an outside chance if she discounts like LFN. "Holiday" was a single off of her first album, Madonna, and I believe it was her first Billboard hit. Madonna has had two diamond albums - Like A Virgin and The Immaculate Collection.
