A bunch of religious nuts killing millions for something they believe they're entitled to :poot: It definitely wasn't a Christ like thing to do tbh. But just like I wouldn't say bombing a parade or shooting up a gay club is a Muslim thing to do, I wouldn't say the Crusades or this dude killing his daughter for an absolutely ridiculous reason is a Christian thing to do.

He better pray that his god isn't real 'cause he'll be spending eternity in Hell for this one :nails:

So tragic :ohno: I hope we can see these atrocities against humanity end in our lifetime. There's no reason to be hurting each other.

But in the old testament god actually ordered the Hebrew people to kill other people, mostly not believers, even to do a genocide, which is a not smart move because in one hand he order "you shall not kill" and then tells you to do it when it's good for he's agenda.. someone is bipolar I guess :laughga:

eh, I don't think it will end anytime soon.. :(

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

That is because they lived by the Old Covenant. We live in the New Covenant and the two highest laws now are:
1) Love the Lord your God
2) Love your neighbour as yourself

Hmm those laws are not new, they are written in the old testament..

The Jews are going by the old one so you can't cancel it..

Anyway, god had a change of mind, so....:reductive:

But we are going a bit off topic..

I never said those laws were new or not mentioned in the Old Testament - don't make things up

But it's asked in the New Testament what the highest commands were, and Jesus mentioned these two. Sin is cleansed amongst Christians now after Jesus fulfilled the Old Covenant, so there is no need for sacrifices and judgment killings.

The Old Testament is so full of contradictions :air: Even more so than the New. God is a fickle and vengeful force...good thing I don't believe in ha anymore :green:

Spoiler

Religion always confused the hell out of me but as soon as I started seeing things like the Bible as story books written by man meant to carry morals and messages (sometimes hateful, sometimes ridiculous, and other times righteous and good) before letting go of God himself I felt like, for the first time, I could see the world clearly.

...but that's getting waaaay off topic

Moral of the story is that people do bad things and "justify" those bad things any way they can. Sometimes religion is one of those excuses :ohno:

I'm still going to hold out hope :diane: People have to realize there's a peaceful solution eventually.

Whimsical bitch
