A group of six young girls from Afghanistan wanted to compete in the US Robotics Olympiad, an annual competition for youth interested in technology and robotics to compete with their creations. Fourteen-year-old Fatemah Qaderyan said she became interested in robotics after seeing robots on television and wondering how they were able to walk.

"It was a question no one answered," she told Griffin at the competition, being held in the District of Columbia.

Another girl told Griffin how much she appreciated being at the competition.

The Afghan girls' robot sorted orange and blue balls during its exhibition.

Griffin said Ivanka Trump was one of those who watched the girls work on the same side as the U.S. team.

The girls made a dangerous 500-mile trip through embattled territory in order to fly to the States from Kabul.

President Trump intervened just two days before the competition on their behalf to allow them entrance into the States after the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan denied their visas. The girls had crossed the dangerous treck of 500 miles across Afghanistan not once, but twice. After a group of American high school students discovered the story, they created a Change.Org Petition that successfully reached the White House.

Mr Trump’s personal intervention in the girls’ case using a rare “parole” mechanism to sidestep the visa system.

Trump is receiving praise from both democrats and republicans alike who see this as empowering for young girls in a country torn by blatant misogyny where the Taliban threatens young women who want to seek an education.

There is some hope left in this world :pray:Credit where it's due, good job Trump :golfclap:

He helped them avoid a problem he created for them. That's not a good deed. It's like if I stole your wallet and then gave it back. Except in his case he stole a bunch of people's wallets but only gave on

How did he create the issue, though? :oprah: Afghanistan was not one of the travel ban countries. And getting a visa into the U.S. is hard enough to begin with, even before Trump's administration. And some people who have participated in the FIRST program shared some of their experiences and of others who had the same issues with visas (Reddit link:
