...are not as supported by radio/GP as Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande are? Also female artists like Halsey, Alessia Cara, Fifth Harmony find it easier to reach top 20 on the Hot 100 than artists like Britney Spears, Kesha, Gaga, Perry.

I think the female audience listens to both male and female artists, but the male audience listens only to male artists and hot young female singers.

A lot of you have been questioning Perry and Gaga's popularity but I feel like they didn't do as well as they did in 2011/2012 because they're now women in their 30s and the harsh reality is that the GP appreciate them less.

Rihanna finds success easier but she's part of the R&B/hip-hop community and we know that's the most dominant genre in USA (and hence other regions as well). :emma:

Beyonce though? Rihanna though? Adele though?

It's strange how it's harder for white female musicians to thrive nowadays.

Yes, plus people rather listen to artists that are directly following trends :selena:

When will the madness stop :selena:

No they're not following trends :rip:

Katy still keeps her Prism, Teenage Dream-sound whereas Joanne is anything but trendy.

Nicki Minaj? Jennifer Lopez was in her 40s with On the floor, Britney in her 30s with femme fatale, Madonna pretty much all her career

I think depends on how cool you are and how hard you and your record label pushs for you to get those HOT TRACKS from producers

They don't make radio-friendly music nowadays. And the GP got bored of Katy, and she was too try hard this era.

I like dancin', and ponies....

I will agree with Rihanna tho . But Beyoncé is not really as popular on radio as u might think. He new singles were not really well recieved. She just has a very good PR team. Adele also has that good family girl image thing.

holy scheisse

its more like.... their time in the mainstream has passed

just like britney, xtina, mariah carey, jlo, etc. all faded once katy, gaga, kesha, rih, etc. arrived

the new generation is moving in. ariana, selena..., demi, miley, that girl alessia cara or w/e... whoever else. idk i dont listen

TL;DR gaga/katys "generation" of popstars is on the way out of what is "cool" and "marketable" imo bc advertisers, big businesses, etc. all want that young demographic. and these stars appeal to like an aging demographic more than the young folks nowadays
