Unless you're black, it is not your place to decide what's racist and offensive to black people and what's not. I wouldn't expect some non blacks to understand the history of linking black people with Apes in America and how it's problematic

So apes aren't allowed to be in movies, because they look like black people? :lana: What the helllllll...

People need to realize, there is actual racism in this world that is harmful and destructive. Making a movie about apes is not harmful. What, are we going to ban apes from movies because it'll trigger people? Like, c'monnnnn

"White Gays"....way to stereotype a group of people, which is what you are accusing others of.

By the way, the person you are referring to in your comment was a straight female. Are you going to group them all together as "****ing evil" too?

:deadbanana: not everyone suddenly coming out of the woodwork to prove my point.

You're like the #NotAllMen people that the internet makes fun of these days - except now it's #NotAllWhiteGays.

No, I'm sure not all white gays are problematic - but it's generally not the black gays who are privileged and don't understand racial issues.

I think what Lanius is trying to relay is the historically poor depiction of black people in media. It's absolutely a thing and dismissing it outright doesn't make it any less valid.

I mean really, where does all this stereotyping and demonization come from? It's not some innate feature. It's propagated.

Oh absolutely, black people were treated horribly, and still are sometimes! I completely agree, and I am an avid fighter for issues such as racism and social rights.

However, when a new Planet of the Apes movie is released, and people try to find racism in something that clearly isn't there. It's a movie about monkeys from outer space. Trying to throw the "racist" word at this is almost disrespectful to the people who are actually treated unfairly for the color of their skin.

Honestly, even after my ban expired I don't really post here. It's just disheartening. White gays can be ****ing evil.

Listen. I get you might be in a bubble believing what i'm about to write is blasphemy.

But you're part of the racism if you generalise people to the point of "white gays". :emma:

Stop with this mob mentality, this "us and them". If you continue like this, it will never move foward. Stopping racism is about all "sides" working together, it's about maturity and not expecting results in a day.

I swear people who have died from racism must be turning non stop in their graves from hearing about the new generations acting as if they represent the same level of troubles.

People treating others differently because of skin is a real issue that should be taken seriously no matter the colour combination.

Reaching for drama because of a poster for a freaking movie is being paranoid for the sake of it. :tony:

While this reaction to the poster might seem unfounded (and perhaps rightfully so), people are being critical because of the way black people have shown before. Not necessarily on a premise of attempting to find racism in anything. I can't completely blame them.

^^ How I see you rn.

I never said anything about "all" white gays - you just seem to be unreasonably mad about the fact that it's the 'white' gays on this forum who are privileged and racist, not the 'black' gays.

Not all men hate women, but all women have been harassed by men at some point.

Not all white people hate black people, but all black people have been harassed by a white person at some point.

This is what I meant when I said "members here are mainly privileged white gays who are hypersensitive".

I didn't make any statement about all white people, I just pointed out that in a website that's largely LGBT and white - there are a lot of users who are racially insensitive and ignorant to issues facing POC. That's a fact whether you are offended by it or not.

You can be a 'white gay' and an ally all you want - but you at least need to accept the simple truth that it's white people who are privileged when it comes to race and it's white people who uphold the status quo through the harassment of black people.

I wasn't talking about you when I talked about problematic white gays, I just acknowledged the fact that there are problematic white gays who are blind to their privilege and ignorant about racial issues.

How old are you? Grow up ffs.

This is embarrassing to say the least and one of the reasons why actual cases of racism are not taken seriously. Also, can't wait till the StupidJW start spreading their **** based on this.:toofunny:

gay kids are being murdered in europe and buried in unmarked graves, while australian newspapers are calling LGBT people a public health crisis, and BLM is crying about a money in a vest?

BLM has and will always do more harm than good

It's literally based off one of the apes from the original. Stuff like this is why nobody takes any of these movements seriously.

lmao imagine if one gay man spoke for all of us and no one took us seriously subsequently. you'd scream and cry homophobia
