It just baffles me that people HATE artists because they assume things about them.

Its too much energy to waste, go put that energy into something that will make a positive impact in your community or for yourself.

Novelty wears off after the first time. 

Honestly they want to do another one to snatch more grammys and oscars, which surely she will get. Nothing wrong with that. But I am unashamed to say that Gaga should be given a chance. But she's still a bit polarizing. They rejected that very good Radiohead song for Sam Smith's, which I like too, but is kinda basic.

I see they're back to safety after Sam Smith's fiasco. Skyfall was a great song, just like the movie, and Spectre was great too but the song was lackluster at best #JusticeForTIHTY

When it comes to Lana I would just like them to use Million Dollar Man because that song is screaming Bond and it sounds haunting and powerful.

After BTD she didn't really deliver good pieces. Except Love. And considering that 24 was made for Bond...No thank you...

Please God no. I know Shirley Bassey's done 3 themes but that was a different time. She's a very special case. I think it should go to a different artist every time. I hate how the franchise is playing it so safe these days by only picking the people who were the most commercially successful of the previous year. That led to the situation of Sam Smith doing it even though his style so didn't suit the franchise. At least they were smart enough to get someone who could actually sing, though, as a lot of the biggest names right now can't actually sing. But it's still like they care more about getting a big name involved than they do about whether the person's voice is actually suited for the franchise. Sorry, but Adele is acutely overexposed, even in her long abscense. She's not going to stop being a national treasure if she only does one Bond theme. Give it to someone who's never been given the chance. I'm shocked that Lana isn't in the running considering that her entire style is that of the Bond theme and she's more than proved herself to be a worthy live vocalist by now. I hoped her recent era's breakthroughs were going to provide her with the chance, but no. Naturally, I want Gaga to do it at some point. The Weeknd as well. Muse were once given the chance but were turned down in favour of Adele. Caro Emerald has made several ideal Bond theme tunes now but the fact she's only really popular in the Netherlands is likely working against her. And after her stunning performance of You Work For Me (which sounds like a Bond theme), Laura Mvula would be another great choice.

It's not like the franchise is scrabbling for worthy contenders. They just want to stick with what they know works.

Non-whites have performed Bond themes before. The half-black Shirley Bassey did 3 themes. More black artists like Gladys Knight, Tina Turner and Alicia Keys have also done it. Rita Coolidge did it and she's Native American. Louis Armstrong even did a secondary theme for Her Majesty's Secret Service. Some of this is from the 70's and earlier, back when racism was much more common. And gay Sam Smith did the last one. So, clearly, race and tradition is not an issue when it comes to choosing the singer. You don't think old white men know what sells? You don't think old white men can like non-white singers as well? I wish people would stop making race baiting arguments if they haven't done the research into the situation. They just assume that racism must be afoot and no one challenges them. It's just constant these days. It seems to be in vogue to think that black artists should get their own way in every case without question, whether it's for sales or an award or an opportunity. It's like, no one gets everything they want. And there are plenty of deserving white artists, as I mentioned above, who have been denied the chance to do a Bond theme as well. Underrating artists happens across all races.

You can do both, you know. Being bitter about certain artists and actually doing good in the world are in no way connected. A bit of negativity can be ironically positive, you know. Nothing would get done in the world if everyone was nice constantly.

She didn't want to do it unless the lyrics actually matched the movie's plot. So many Bond songs just contain the same core themes, which is why we can say "that sounds like a Bond theme" but that's because that so many of them don't contain any of the plot's content in the lyrics. Adele just wanted to be involved in it to the fullest extent and know the plot so she could write the song to match it.
