I have heard plenty of cringy lyrics in my life but National Anthem oops I mean New Americana deserves a special mention here. "Raised on Biggie and Nirvana" Her using this as a "metaphor" for being biracial is funny enough but she is probably just another "edgy" try hard tumblr kid who goes around wearing a Nirvana t-shirt, in reality Smells Like Teen Spirit is probably the only song she has ever heard by them. Makes this cringier. As if this was not tragic enough she decides to rhyme "americana" vs "marijuana" causing a travesty.

Its 03:06 a.m and I need a good laugh. What are some of the cringiest lyrics you have ever heard in your lifetime?

what song is that?

Katy's Peacock is the most atrocious song I've ever heard

Oh my God no exaggeration
Now all this time was worth the waiting
I just shed a tear
I'm so unprepared
You've got the finest architecture
End of the rainbow looking treasure
Such a sight to see
And it's all for me

how can you not love it :diane:

I know that these are some godawful lyrics but how come is this a racist line?

2 things - the word "Japanesy" is generally considered to be derogatory racist slang. "Jap" is also considered racist. Not as monumental as the n word, but still unacceptable. I've not heard anyone say this term in a long, long, time which is why I'm so surprised that Katy used it. I thought it was well-established by now that it's not a term used in polite society anymore, even if you mean nothing bad by it. And the second reason is that she associated it with the nail salon and Asian women are stereotyped as being nail salon workers and that they do the best nails. Again, not the most damaging of stereotypes but I'm sure it's annoying for Asians to still be associated with it.
