Is fame Gaga's perfect illusion?

Whenever Gaga explains PI she either says its about love with a significant other or social media. She never specifically said this, but i think Gaga's perfect illusion is also fame. Its what she strived for her entire life, thinking it would make her happy and fulfilled. Fame was what she expected and wanted it to be initially, but soon she discovered the dark side.

Actually, I think its pretty clear, PI is at least partly about fame, especially with the music video. So, my next question is, why do you think Gaga never said PI is about fame? Did she want the song to be more relatable? Was she afraid she would open up pandora's box and interviewers would be free to ask her questions about the dark side that she wasn't willing or ready to answer?

Discuss.

Love Gaga but the social media explanation was clearly due to her not wanting to really say the song was about her love life

Been a long time but I'm back in town, and this time I'm not leaving without you

I was think that her label was hoping to cash in on her recent break up with the whole "it wasn't love" plus a break up song is obviously more relatable than fame.

Tbh I kinda see the social media thing in the first verse and her love life in the second verse

Good analysis. I think it could be that as well. She obviously would not want to say it is about the illusions of fame because fans could take it the wrong way and think she is saying she thought our love was a perfect illusion or maybe she did not want to talk about the "Fame" concept again when she has delved into that subject so many times in her previous records.
