I feel like cultural appropriation has turned into a stupid game of Where's Waldo :saladga:

Yes, there are real instances of cultural appropriation, but it feels like it's mostly become a race of who can point out the benign nods to foreign cultures by white people the fastest and pretend to be devastatingly offended and school the offender. Can't wait for this social trend to balance out and become more reasonable.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

I don't see anything wrong with SJW/PC/etc. but this guy obviously makes a bad case for them.

Sadly, ignorance is on both sides here.

People hate on SJWs until they themselves become the "victim".

Again, this isn't the case, but let's not lose sight of the real issues.

As a Britney fan you shouldn't be saying this and overall it's a powerful song that many people can relate to...have you seen the video?

Who is he to say that she doesn't practice Hindu or Buddhist faith? Since when has religion become synonymous with race?

In regards to the font, the resemblance is uncanny however, who knows if that was actually the inspiration? There are plenty of serif fonts available to be used and I'm sure many resemble historical scripts. How is this a problem? Should we attack Microsoft Word for providing similar font options?

I just hate how these social justice warriors act as if they are combating ignorance while simotaneously spreading their own.

I completely agree that there is a huge issue of cultural appropriation in our society.

It's called globalization and it's not a problem. Please google it and learn something. Also share this with your friends who think the same.

You're welcome

I just want to say in the most general sense that I don't think this really offends anybody from those particular cultures so yeah...idk...

this is like when Gaga wore a pink "Burqa" and people expected me to be mad about it? :diane: like, no? Most Muslims don't support Burqa anyways so idk? :diane: or when Gaga put a scarf over her face like a Niqab :diane: like, that wasn't offensive to me, my culture doesn't have Niqab so...? This is an example of really over exaggerated use of the term appropriation. The symbols used in her video are very vague and weren't trying to give off south Asian vibes so I don't see it as a direct case of appropriation.
