I do like the album, one of the best of 2016. But I still don't think it's 2 billion streams good. I'm also surprised to find that My Everything is the most streamed female album on Spotify. I was about to enquire why it wasn't 1989 but then I remembered that Taylor wasn't on that until last month! (maybe she wanted to stand a chance of taking Ari's record!) My Everything is also good but definitely not worthy of being the top streamed album by a female. More than The Fame Monster? More than Born To Die? More than Teenage Dream? More than Born To Die? Those albums were all much more commercially successful and had songs that have stood the test of time. I have a hard time believing why the record doesn't belong to any of them.

I can assure you that the GP is blowing a lot more hot and cold on Taylor these days. The Katy feud, the Calvin break-up, the Tom 'PR relationship' and the Kimye feud has really soiled her reputation. 2016 was a bad year for Taylor. The only positive thing that happened to her was that she won the AOTY Grammy. Everything else was a downfall. I'm not saying she can't come back from it, but she'll need to work hard and some of her reputation has been damaged beyong repair.

And a Grammy is a not completely decided by the peers of the nominated. It's all different people, some of them very old because membership is for life. We don't know who exactly is involved but I can tell you that the community is definitely not made up of a majority of 27-year-olds.

In comparison, the views of Ariana's personality have gone through the roof since the Manchester situation. Even I've really changed my view of her and realised she's a much nicer person than I originally thought. And suffice to say when it comes to vocals, the public is definitely letting Ariana win this one.

That's not what we mean, though. We mean that she had help in getting these songs up the charts. You know how some Gaga fans round here say that Gaga should feature a DJ or a rapper on her singles to get more sales, streams and relevancy? This is what we're talking about. The more people you put on a song (see recent hits like Despacito and I'm The One) and the more relevant these features are (same examples), the more likely that you'll get a hit without even trying. Ariana always features the most relevant names on her songs at the current moment in time - Big Sean, Iggy, Zedd, Nicki, Future. The hottest names right now, No one obscure, people who have fanbases who will pull in views, sales and streams. I think it's a problem if you have to rely on others to help you get hits and that idea can only work for so long. I know Ariana has had solo top tens with Focus and Dangerous Woman but those songs could hardly be considered hits in the long run. They were forgotten about by the public after a few months. Don't let YouTube views and likes fool you. She has a lot of subscribers and young fans who are providing that, that isn't the public giving her those accolades. If an artist can only get big hits with the aid of someone else propping them up, their future career is in doubt. Which is a shame, as I think Ariana's very talented. But I'm just telling it like it is.
